They are both great browsers. Galeon is generally considered to be faster
than Mozilla, but IMO Opera is faster even than Galeon, and h
I would like to get opinion about the relative qualities of galeon 1.0.3 and

Not very much. In fact, Mozilla doesn't need
Galeon is basically a GUI for Mozilla, with some features added. It is
directly linked to mozilla, and cannot run without it. They are not
interdependant, Galeon needs Mozilla, Mozilla does not require anything
from Galeon.
You cannot upgrade one without the other. That's actually the reason I

To get java and plugins to work in Galeon, you must first make them work in
Mozilla !!
First I assume you have Java installed, and you have removed kaffe if it was
installed.
Locate your java installation and make a symlink like this :-
ln -s /usr/share/java/jre1.3.1_02/plugin/i38

Dear All,
I really like Galeon as a web browser however I have not figured out how to
get my java, realplayer, and flash to work in Galeon. These all work fine in
Netscape but not in Galeon and I prefer to use Galeon. Would any one be able
to help me to get these to work in the Galeon web bro

coulnd't find it in the list archives sooo.. I am
trying to install Galeon 1.0.1 but I get this message
error: failed dependencies: mozilla = 0.9.6 is needed
by galeon-1.0.1-1mdk. The problem is that I have
already installed mozilla 0.9.6. If

I admit to, and am aware of, MS's vulnerabilities, and also how to mitigate
them; it's part of my job responsibilities.

This is not 100% correct.
If you use Win9x/WinME, it is correct. All users have "root" privleges.
If you use NT/

to get java working, run mozilla as root (is this safe ?), go to
java.sun.com, it will tell you that you need the java plug-in, say ok, when
it takes you to the new web page, click java for linux, it should download
and install, restart mozilla, and java should work, java should now also work

Thanks for the tip about the RedHat version of mozilla-0.9.6. Alas, I don't
really have the time at work to install all the -devlop rpms and compile
galeon from it's src.rpm. I tried the rh6 version of the ready-made rpm
(installed along with mozilla) but it immediately hiccups:

I've been wanting to give galeon a try for a while but on my 8.1 box at home
the version that came with the distro does little but crash. (People running
8.1 at work haven't had any problem with it; must be something different in
the networking setup that galeon doesn't like). At work, I'm running
