they wish to mount the device onto such as:
cd /mnt
mkdir cdrom
Then they can do a mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom
assuming that your CD rom is on device hdb.

It sounds like you are probably trying to mount your / directory on your CD
drive.
Your current hard drives will look like this in Linux
c: = hda1
e: = hdb1
f: = hdb2
g: = hdb3
h: = hdb4

Certainly. Do a "man fstab" at a shell prompt to get full details, but
the file /etc/fstab is read on boot time to configure who and how
everything in the system is automatically booted.
Some examples from my own below:

First off, the filesystem type should be "ntfs" (note the lowercase
letters). Second, I don't believe the stock Mandrake kernel has NTFS
