First, I would suggest that you download the RPM file rather than use the
updater (I read this in the update program or somewhere, can't remember)
Then install the kernel with RPM or Kpackage, so on.
Then, enter 'root' and edit your /etc/lilo.conf file, which is where you
found the new entries.

everything went smoothly (I assume). It updated a lot of packages, but
the one I am most interested in is the new kernel 2.2.16-9mdk. I looked
in /etc/lilo.conf and there are two new entries:

You can also use KPACKAGE which comes with KDE instead of the REDHAT package
manager.
When you start the program it will check your disk for all installed packages
and list them for you.
Select the packages to be uninstalled one at a time with your mouse and select
the UNINSTALL

I updated the kernel to 2.2.9-27, lilo, and the initscripts with the files
provided in mandrake's FTP, the unmounting problem seems to be solved, but
