I'd like to add that if your Oracle server is separate from your AR
server you absolutely need to change the CLOB storage option to in-row
or else there are severe performance penalties that are a royal pain in
the neck to troubleshoot.
BMC has a white paper with instructions and an Oracle stored
am, I have seen some problem occur, even in 7.1, if currencies
aren't defined in any way. I would make sure that you at least have
default currencies defined.

not doing something stupid.
BMC Support has been unable to assist in this issue - it's been going on
for months. Has anyone else run into this? I don't even know how to
troubleshoot what is going on really since all of the app/workflow/api
stuff seems to be correct.

Make sure that the report server AND port are listed in the user's AR
User Preference form record. We had a similar issue and this fixed it.

I have to agree on this - don't do it.
A while back we had a customer with AR 4.x clients connecting to a 6.x
server - a few workstations got missed in an upgrade. One API call had
changed on the backend. Whenever a user did a certain specific search
the entire server went down immediately.

If you have the CMDB you also have a license for the Atrium Integration Engine.
There are connectors for this for both SQL and Oracle and they can connect to
remote databases to pull data as you suggest.
You may need to purchase the connector - I do not recall.
