On his feet in an instant, he grabbed the stick away from the Zen guy and said to him, calmly, Hit me with that stick again, motherfucker, and I'll ram it up your ass and then twirl you around on top of it. The Zen teacher wisely backed off. My friend said he returned to his meditation and somehow got through it with no further interruptions. :-)

So, finally, we're here. The year when, by year's end, the transition to a new era is supposed to be - well, what? Apparent? On its way despite appearances? The Mayan calendar gets a lot of attention for setting this date, but the Oneness Blessing people have cited it also, and I believe some other people and wisdom traditions have concurred. There's always a lot of change in the world; lots of old ways dying and new ways being born. What might be different about this year? The American elections will be telling. Syria and Russia, too. Will the Eurozone melt down? Pakistan? Will Canadian shale oil and American fracking doom the environment and climate, or will cleaner energy sources finally take hold? The outcomes of those situations and others may convince me that the Age of Enlightenment is either genuine or a sham. By this time next year I hope to either have my optimism vindicated or be stocking up on guns and water purification tablets.

Gordon Wasson, the author of 'Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality'. Also, by other eminent botanists such as S. Hajicek-Dobberstein, the author of the paper 'Soma Siddhas and Alchemical Enlightenment: Psychedelic Mushrooms in Buddhist Tradition' published in the Journal of Ethno pharmacology and cited by Wasson (88). The Amanita Muscaria spoken of in the Rig Veda thus has its origin in the northern area around Finland and Siberia, where the fungus still grows and can be seen each year. I don't have any servants because I'm not one of the 1%. But I've been getting acquainted with my new camera to find what all it does and doesn't do. One little unclear bit of information is that the camera does shoot in Apple's iFrame mode which is probably NOT of much use. iFrame was developed to make HD video editing easier but only supports a resolution of 960x540 which is kinda halfway between SD and HD. Netflix actually streams some of their non-HD offerings in this resolution. iFrame stores each picture as a full frame or what is known in MPEG compression parlance as an i-frame. Though I had my eyes set on a Canon T3i DSLR I couldn't justify the expenditure at this time and since I was given a Best Buy gift care a little over a week ago used it to buy a Canon PowerShot 310 HS. This camera supports iFrame but you have to use it from the manual settings. The camera does not have a 960x540 setting but apparently stretches the 960x540 image to 1280x720. Ugh, not so good as 720p should have more detail than that. So iFrame is of not much use. But the 1080p setting shoots at 24 fps which is what I've been wanting for years and the image is crisp. One 1.5 minute video I shot Christmas eve created a 440 MB QuickTime MOV file so there is little compression going on using the AVCHD format anyways and the file loaded fine into my editing software. Video analysis software showed it was pretty much as standard AVCHD file mostly of p-frames and some i-frames. My bet is the p-frames don't use a lot of compression. This camera shoots better video than my 2005 $1800 Sony camcorder which only did 1440x1080i and the Canon was only $180. The camera has both an USB port and an HDMI port. I'm using Class 10 sdcards with this camera which happened to be on sale this last week for $15. The higher speed card is recommended to prevent dropouts. And of course the camera takes great stills. I haven't had a really good still camera since I had an SLR back in the 1970s.

I don't have any servants because I'm not one of the 1%. But I've been getting acquainted with my new camera to find what all it does and doesn't do. One little unclear bit of information is that the camera does shoot in Apple's iFrame mode which is probably NOT of much use. iFrame was developed to make HD video editing easier but only supports a resolution of 960x540 which is kinda halfway between SD and HD. Netflix actually streams some of their non-HD offerings in this resolution. iFrame stores each picture as a full frame or what is known in MPEG compression parlance as an i-frame. Though I had my eyes set on a Canon T3i DSLR I couldn't justify the expenditure at this time and since I was given a Best Buy gift care a little over a week ago used it to buy a Canon PowerShot 310 HS. This camera supports iFrame but you have to use it from the manual settings. The camera does not have a 960x540 setting but apparently stretches the 960x540 image to 1280x720. Ugh, not so good as 720p should have more detail than that. So iFrame is of not much use. But the 1080p setting shoots at 24 fps which is what I've been wanting for years and the image is crisp. One 1.5 minute video I shot Christmas eve created a 440 MB QuickTime MOV file so there is little compression going on using the AVCHD format anyways and the file loaded fine into my editing software. Video analysis software showed it was pretty much as standard AVCHD file mostly of p-frames and some i-frames. My bet is the p-frames don't use a lot of compression. This camera shoots better video than my 2005 $1800 Sony camcorder which only did 1440x1080i and the Canon was only $180. The camera has both an USB port and an HDMI port. I'm using Class 10 sdcards with this camera which happened to be on sale this last week for $15. The higher speed card is recommended to prevent dropouts. And of course the camera takes great stills. I haven't had a really good still camera since I had an SLR back in the 1970s.

Something I wanted to clarify to my lovers, on how I arch, throw my head backwards as I hit the high notes of a song. I'm full of sexual energy like the sexually repressed, perverted Gurus like Muktananda, Nityananda and our own perverted resident swami Curtisananda. I have come to realize that I'm full of sexual energy and through singing among other avenues transform my sexual energy into bliss, into unconditional love, unconditional hatred. When I hit the high notes, my spine naturally straightens, my head falls backward and now the singing touches the sex center totally aligning the sex with the head center. I noticed videos comparing my singing to hounds, wolves and trust me I was not offended raunchy because I find it funny as well. So there is no need to project sexual perversions into celibacy like Muktananda, Nityananda or 7 layer progressively cruder, baser, grosser intellectual deception like our resident Swami Curtisananda. Now this helped me answer the discussion we had on progressive enlightenment. I believe that there are 2 major paths - path of yoga (suppression, perfection) and path of tantra(indulgence, path of love). A yogi perfects his body through yoga asanas, pranayama etc to perfect his body, mind and senses, so there can be one final enlightenment for a Yogi since he is so ready for the divine descension. Whereas for a tantric like me, it could take several rounds because I just indulged, my path was love. Indeed I had 3 sets of Unity or divine descencions each progressively higher. Nov'09, Apr-May '10 Nov-Dec '11. I had to go through intense purging, hence symptoms of panic attacks, intense manic, depressive states, periods of psychosis at the peak of descension. But the third set I had last month had absolutely negligible impact - I only missed 4 hours of work. So for a tantric,lover - healing, centering, integration happens after the enlightenment experiences whereas a Yogi can have it one shot, a final enlightenment. Unlike pimps(intellectuals) like Vaj, Emptybill who parrot shit from scriptures, though Vaj the liar, Empty the dharma warrior, I only learned the majority after my initial enlightenment experiences. And I don't have to make TV shows like our Rick to make up for lack of intellectual skills and actual experiences. So I'm so wrong to use the Yogi title :-), I should just use Bhogi. Small homogenous populations favor development of community. Rural farming economies are tight-knit and require community. Fairfield's economic activity for a 10,000 person town is impressive, to say the least, if what wikipedia says is true. Yes, Robin definitely helped me there and I am indebted to his suggestion and his experiences. About music, yes I think singing is a spiritual practice in itself. I first transcended, CC, during singing, I wanted to replicate it every time and I got completely frustrated when I couldn't and stopped public singing for a long time. It was no use if people praised my voice, I wanted to transcend every time I sang.
