support and don't let the engineer off the line until they've removed the
filter. I had to battle an engineer at UUNET to get him to double-check
their filters as my Sprint blocks weren't getting seen through their AS.

Looks like the problem you're having is on the network card of each
computer. Make sure you use all 100mbps full-duplex NICs. You can find
out the speed and duplex mode of each NIC by doing this on your cat29xx
switch:

secondly, there is no other ring other than ring 9 and there is no RPS
server present.
flem, you're right. no MAC address conversion is needed for dlsw unlike
sdlc, cisco doc. confirms this. BUT, what could have gone wrong here...
