etc.), I think they have to set some definition so that physical
reserve/release is recognised for that volume. I cannot ask them because
we no longer have any Z/OS sysprogs on site.

I did know but I have forgotten how to either trap or get rid of the

Even though it is a HCPMID6001I message, it is not affected by the IMSG
(or EMSG or MSG) setting.
