I found that boot magic will hang forever if it can't find the mouse.
OS2 boot manager will self-destruct if you have a windows partition over
2 gigs. LILO is faster than boot magic. Use LILO.

I have mandrake 6.1 installed, on an AMD 133 mhz, and everytime I try to
install any rpm from the mandrake CD, with an i586 extention, it says that
the package is for a different architecture.
Any ideas what I can do?
(i386 files install fine)

or do a man screen, or go to sunsite.unc.edu/pub/gnu/screen

As for gcc - you just need to install the gcc rpms from the mandrake disk.
do an ls gcc* in the /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS dir and you should find them

I boot just fine w/ lilo (well, most of the time) with win2k. Most likely what
you need to do is try setting the linear mode on (I had to). Then run
/sbin/lilo again.
That SHOULD rewrite the boot sector of /dev/hda.

just enough get a shell by doing alt F2 - F6 until I found a console that would

I would make a 16meg linux partition at the front of the disk. and then I would
reboot and use Windoze

partition is the one where bootmanager resides.
