I am a newbie to Linux also but it sounds to me like you need to change the
display configuration to less (may want to start all the way down to 640 X
480). If that isn't it then there may be someincompatibility with
the video board and the driver that is causing the problem.

password field. The plain vanilla xdm login screen does this by default.

You login or su as root and you have to enter two insmod commands. 'insmod
parport' and 'insmod something'. Then you mount the zip drive. It will be a

I still seem to be having problems installing Linux 7.1 on a Fujitsu
10Gig. drive.
I noticed that some Fujitsu drives are not on the approved list for
Linux.
Is this true or is it that I have and older BIOS? The original drive is
about 3 Gig.

FIPS worked well for me when I was repartitioning my meager 700MB drive on
my laptop to accept "Peanut" Linux. As I recall, it was pretty straight
forward. The key to not loosing DO$ information is to scandisk and defrag
(to move everything to the start of the partition), then IMMEDIATELY
Try reburning you copy again... I've had that problem once before. the next
time i installed it worked fine. also, first you might want to grab a disk
manager. use it to delete that partition. i.e. maxblast, ontrac, or western
digital, fujitsu. if that dont cure it, then reburn.

I had that simular problem with my 3com nic in my laptop. What those beeps
signify is Linux is detecting your card services and the card services is
reporting there is cards physically present. ( simular to the WIN9X bootup
sequence.) You are going to need to locate a compatible kernel
