I looked it up under windows. Funny thing is there are two

back up again. It is the pnp version I think since the name of

When I install Linux-Mandrake, I set up the modem first under KPPP. The
device is set to ttyS1. Then I set up the rest of my PPP seatings. I then
am able to successfully dial my ISP. The modem (sportster 56K internal)
works GREAT!
The next step in setting up mandrake is setting up the sound. So
you've got a winmodem.

I just installed Madrake 6.0, running KDE, I used kdeppp and tried to setup
my modem, which is a U.S. Robotics 56k Internal Fax Modem
I just installed Mandrake 6.0 last night. I tried setting up my internet
stuff under KPPP. I couldn't get the modem to work. The modem is a US
Robotics 56K internal (not a winmodem). It is set to run on COM3. I always
get errors that say "modem is busy". I have tried all the possible devices
nice. Then
go back in to Kppp and let it query the modem on /dev/ttys2.

I think it might work if you try cua0 or cua1 depending on if it is on
serial
port 1 or 2 respectively. That is the only selection that works with my

If they don't work, did you do anything odd to them (disable the serial
ports in BIOS or something like that)?
