But there is an option in base to use a spreadsheet for data source.

and is dependant on the printer, not OOo. I've printed booklets using
OOo where it is supported by the printer quite happily.

I use ps2ps on Linux: OOo print to PS, then use ps2ps to do the
re-arrangements.
