[Blind-Computing] Hearing sender in Windows Live with JAWS 14

2013-05-24 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi
I am using JAWS 14, Windows 7, and Windows Live Mail. For some time I have
been puzzled that at work the windows live program announces the sender along
with the subject line and date. On my laptop at home, it only announced the
subject line and possibly the date. Well, today I found that by doing an alt V,
and tabbing to message list, I could check the show sender and subject in same
line. This makes going through a list of E-Mails much faster.
I thought I would share this, in case someone else was having the same
issue.

God bless,
Mark

Re: [Blind-Computing] Making and printing bulletins in MS Word 2010

2013-04-24 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi Mujtaba:
Well, actually I tried tabbing through the printer options and changing
a few settings. However, I never quite get everything correct. By using the
JAWS cursor I found a spot on the screen that said that the system is set
for left edge binding. I need the binding to be set in the middle of the
page. That way I can fold the bulletin. The trouble is, when I click on the
binding settings, nothing changes. Any ideas on how to change this?

Thank you.

Hello Mark,

You might want to check the page layout of your word document. It should be
under the Page Layout tab under page set up option, make sure that it is set
to portrait. Which means the page is vertical in position.

Printing the pages in order should not be a problem. Alt + F to get to the
word options menu, under print you just hit enter there. You will get a
dialog box for the print options. Select the ones you want like pages per
sheet 1 etc. Make sure you have the right size of paper loaded in the
printer e.g. A4, which is the normal letter size page. Rest you need to tab
around and come to the print button and hit enter.

Suggestion would be that you practice this with sighted assistance first few
times. Then when you are all set to go, you can do it yourself without any
assistance.

Re: [Blind-Computing] USB sound

2013-03-25 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi
First, one can go in to the windows media player settings and tell it
to automatically rip any cd you play. That is how I set mine up. Next, I go
back in to the settings and tell windows media player to only rip music to
the MP3 format. There is also a setting for the quality of music file you
like. I usually set mine to 100%.
On the USB device. You will need to tell JAWSwhich audio device to use.
After that, when ever you plug in the USB device, JAWS will know not to use
it, and keep using your normal speakers...

[Blind-Computing] Getting Computer to Recognize Drivers

2013-03-21 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi
I am trying to get my work computer to recognize the printer/scanner/fax
machine. The computer is running windows 7, and the unit I am trying to connect
to is a canon image runner 2525 or 2530 depending on which place I am looking
at for information.
Anyway, it is a wireless networked device. How people have previously used
the scanner is to access the touch screen to tell the scanner where the scanned
image should go. This of coarse is not working for me as a blind person. Thus,
I am trying to access the unit from the computer. I brought up the basic fax
and scan program for windows which told me that there was simply no scanner or
fax machine connected to the computer. On double checking the drivers, I found
that there are no scanner/fax drivers installed. So, I went to the canon
website, and after finding the driver down load page tried to locate the
scanner drivers. All I can find are the printer and fax drivers.
I tried to install the fax driver. However, even though I can see that the
driver is installed, the windows fax and scan program still does not recognize
it.
I have two questions. First, how do I find the driver to install for the
canon scanner. Second, how do I get windows to recognize that it has a driver
for a fax machine installed? It seems to me that if it cannot recognize the fax
driver, it would not recognize a scanner driver either.
 Any help is appreciated.

Re: [Blind-Computing] I need help with my Gmail account please?

2013-02-27 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi
I am not sure if you are accessing your Gmail online or through an
E-Mail program. It sounds like you may have created a filter. Usually if one
creates a filter it asks which types of mail you want to filter, and then
asks where you want the filtered messages sent. You can even have messages
automatically deleted.
Another possibility is that you may have told your E-Mail program to
make the deleted items folder your primary folder. I recall seeing a setting
on one of my E-Mail programs where I could select a new folder for my main
folder. Presumably one can choose the deleted items folder as their new main
folder. Smile.

I hope these ideas may be of some help.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Accessing My Router

2013-02-16 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi Mike,
Nomemally, the router has an IP address that one puts in the address
bar of their web browser. If you know the name and mottle number of your
router, you can usually find the IP address on line. Anyway this should open
what looks like a web page. However, it is actually coming from within your
router. This page usually has all the access to the settings for the router.
One thing I do know from experience is that you may have to try a few
different IP addresses since manuactorers may use several for different
mottles ETC.

I hope this helps.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Accessing My Router

2013-02-16 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi
I could be wrong, but the only way I know of to be completely certain
of getting the router brand is to ask a sighted person. Once you have that
you can search the web for the IP addresses used by the manufactorer.
Sometimes the mottle number is not clear even to a sighted person. One trick
to find the brand of router is: if you have your wireless on your router
turned on, look in your wireless connection. If it is lleft in the basic
format, it will say something like 2wire 482. Where 2wire is the brand and
482 is the mottle number. If you are lucky and are able to find this
information under the wireless connection. it makes searching for the IP
address faster.

I hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
Nomemally, the router has an IP address that one puts in the address
bar of their web browser.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Youtube volume question

2013-02-15 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi
Generally, when I have this trouble, it is because my internet explorer
volume is low. To get to the volume control You will need to open
C:\Windows\System32\SndVol.exe
Do this at the same time that internet explorer is running. Next, tab to the
section that shows the volume for internet explorer and up arrow until you
have the volume you like. then press enter. If the volume gets to loud .
just repeat the steps, but in the last part use down arrow.

I hope this helps.

Hello friends, greetings from the Caribbean twin island state of Trinidad
and Tobago.

One of our volunteers at the school for the blind is experiencing a problem
with her Asa laptop.

She is clueless about any of the technical aspects of the machine except
that she is using Windows 7 Home which I was able to ascertain.

Her problem is that the volume in Youtube is very low and said she believes
it has something to do with Adobe Flash player.

Does anyone have any idea as to what can be causing her problem?

Sorry I don't know more to clarify the problem. This lady is close to her
seventies if that matters anything and she is relatively new to computers.

I really want to help her but don't know how so if anyone of you have
experiences that are similar in nature or have some hints which I could try
I would be very much appreciative.

Thanks in advance.

When you install dropbox on the windows 7 computer sign in with the same

[Blind-Computing] How to Use a Network scanner With an OCR Program

2013-01-23 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi
I have been searching the internet for an answer for this question, but no
luck. I would like to use a program like text cloner PRO at work. However, text
cloner like most OCR programs looks for the default scanner driver. Since the
system of computers at work uses a network scanner, there are no drivers
installed on my computer. Thus, I am dependent on someone else doing the
scanning, and sending the file to me to have the OCR program convert it. It
seems highly inefficient. How do I go about directly accessing the scanner from
my computer? It is a canon wireless scanner as I understand it. The computer is
windows 7, running the latest version of JAWS.
 Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi
I use a hp Scanjet 5000 as I recall. I bought it when I was
attending the university. Thus, I had more money back then. Smile.
What I aspecially like about this scanner is that it can scan up to 25
pages double sided a minute. A wonderful help when converting
textbooks to computer files. I wish I could get it to connect to my
windows 8 machine. I am still working on that.
One thing I am particularly fond of is that HP has image to text
conversion software one can install at no extra charge. It seems that
sighted people like this feature also. It was a little challenging as
a blind person to set it up. However, once it was running the results
were good.
 I hope this helps.

my budget range. The only other stand alone bible I know of is called
ESword. I am guessing one could make a thumb drive version. However, I am
not sure how JAWS friendly it was.

[Blind-Computing] Finding Older Video Game

2012-12-04 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi

I was telling a sighted person about the wonderful audio game Entombed.
They were wishing it had graphics. It seems to me that there was an actual
video game like entombed where one went on quests in a dungeon. The town was
something like a Scottish village. The world of games on line is vast, and I
was hoping that someone on the list would remember the name of the video
game. I am getting lost in the online maze. Smile.

 Thank you.

Hi Becky,
I am using the HP scan jett 5000. It is a real work horse.
Unfortunately, my computer caught a Trojan malware, and since then I haven't
been able to get the driver to install properly. Still working on that one.
Anyway, I scanned more textbooks with it than I care to think about. I used
the OCR software that came with it free. Most of the time it does a great
job if one has the settings right.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Dragon Speak and jaws 13?

Hi
Personally, I have had very little luck with speech to text programs.
However, technology advances so quickly that what I tried 3 years ago is out
of date information for the current state of things. The one thing I would
suggest is using earphones. It sounds odd, but because jaws is speaking at
the same time as you are trying to dictate, the computer can actually be
trying to convert what jaws is saying to text. Smile.
 Just my experience.

[Blind-Computing] Making Links Have a Different Voice In JAWS 14

2012-11-11 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi

In JAWS 13 and earlier, I set my internet explorer jaws settings to
Rent a Crowd. This caused the links on web pages to be read in a different
voice than the other text. In JAWS 14 when I switched it to rent a crowd,
the links sound the same as all the rest of the text. I tried to adjust
several of the more advanced settings under rent a crowd, but there is no
real change. What am I doing wrong, and how do I fix the problem?

 Any ideas are appreciated.

2012-11-08 Thread Mark Torgerson
Dear Fred,
I first heard of flexible web on an FS podcast. I believe the access
key is JAWS key + space bar, followed by the letter X. You first need to be
positioned on the heading or other attribute of a webpage that you wish to
modify. When you press the key combination mentioned, a menu will open
showing all the available options for that item. One very nice thing is to
be able to block all ads. Another is to be able to start reading at a
particular point on a given page.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Flexible Web Info

2012-11-08 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi Fred,
Well, I am always glad to help out. The main concept behind flexible
web is that one can train JAWS to ignore unwanted information on specific
pages, or that you can skip directly to the section that you always want to
start reading at. One good example of a page with a lot of extra content is
the MSN search page.
The one place I ran in to trouble is that one must explain to the
program that the settings apply to a specific page, and not just to all web
pages. After I figured that out things went much better.
 I hope this helps.

God bless,
Mark

Re: [Blind-Computing] Compiling scripts

2012-10-06 Thread mark
Hi Maria,
The easiest way to compile a script it to open the application that it
is associated with. This will load the appropriate scripts. Then, Press the
jaws key plus f2. Next, press S. You should land on the script manager. Just
press enter. The manager will open and you will be able to see the actual
script written in scripting language. Do an alt F to open the menu. Then
arrow down to save, and press enter. This should compile the scripts in the
current Jaws version. However, I have noticed that when one brings up the
keyboard manager in JAWS 14 beta, it doesn't always show the keys associated
with the application. This is true even though the scripts appear to be
compiled properly. I am waiting to see what the final release of JAWS 14
does about this.

Hi
The MS Word document is an application form. Thus, I am wondering if
one can then fill in the form in Excel, and copy it back in to the MS Word
document for the original person who gave me the form?
 Thank you.

Personally, I find using tables in word to be awkward and tedious. My
solution is to go to excel and open a new worksheet; go to the table in word
select all and copy (Control a, Control c); then paste this into to the
excel workbook you have opened. The same table you had in word will appear
in the columns in your excel worksheet. I find an excel table far easier to
use then a word table.

Mark,

Once you enter the table, you should be in the first box. That would be
Row 1, Column 1.

The first row is likely a number of headers.

You should be able to use the arrow keys to travel down the column or across

the row; stopping in each element.

Also, using the TAB key will move you to each succeeding element.

For example, if there are 6 columns and 8 rows, continually using the TAB
from Row 1, Column 1 should take you to Column 2, Column 3, Column 4, Column

5 and Column 6; using the TAB in Row 1, Column 6 should take you to Row 2,

Column 1, etc.

Using SHIFTTAB will cause to navigate up the table.

Once you find yourself in the middle of the table, using the right and left
arrow keys will move you along the row; using the up and down arrows keys
will move you up and down the column.

Hi
I am using the beta version of JAWS, and I listen to net flix. The one
thing about net flix is that the player itself is inaccessible. However, if
you want to listen to an entire TV show for instance, it is easy to find the
program on their site, and press enter on the link that says play. Then just
kick back, and enjoy. Smile.

Listers,

Does Jaws work with Netflix now? For a time there, Jawsstop working with
Netflix because of some changes they made in the program.

I keep getting emails from them to comeback, and maybe I will if Jaws13,
will now work with the program.

If there's any information about this I would appreciate it.

Thanks to all.

Hi Donnie,
Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to press the windows key, and
type in the name of a song. Then, arrow through the list of results, and
press enter on the one you want.
Once you have located the song on your search, you may want to press
the application key, arrow to open folder, and press enter. Now, you will
see all the songs on that album.
I hope this helps.

Personally, the fastest way I know to find the path to a file, is to
create a short cut. Then, focus on the shortcut, press the applications key,

[Blind-Computing] How to Access Acer Cristal Eye software

2012-09-24 Thread mark
Hi
I have an acer computer. It has a built in webcam. This camera can be
used for either video or still pictures. I opened the acer Cristal eye
webcam software to find to my dismay that none of the graphical interface is
not JAWS friendly. Not even the OCCR function in JAWS 14 is giving me any
text. So, I am wondering, is there a way to overcome the graphics interface?
Barring that, is there any blind friendly picture taking software?
 Thank you.

Must I delete one message at a time and then it should not delete my regular

do.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.

You could possibly do this through JAWS scripting, if you are using the

Re: [Blind-Computing] Keyboard Re-Mapping Program

2012-09-22 Thread mark
Hi
I get tired of trying to remember all the different exit commands from
different programs. Also, I always want to land back on the desktop. So, for
every program I create an exit script, and tie it to the short cut key
control + shift + X. I pasted the contents of my exit script for MS Outlook
below.
{alt+f4}
Pause ()
TabKey ()
Pause ()
TabKey ()
Pause ()
TabKey ()
{Alt+Y}
Pause ()
{windows+m}
Now, I have no idea why I had to add the tab commands to make the script
work. However, As long as it exits the program, and sets me on the desktop I
don't really care. Smile. If you are interested in making your own exit
command keys, or other short cut keys, feel free to use my code as a
starting point.
 Happy coding.

all the big names, mcafee Norton avg malware bite, addaware. I have had a
bettert experience with makers of vipper. I use the internet security

I was just working with a Tech Support person by phone about my antivirus
program. Since then, I can no longer access my Contact Card File in Outlook
2010. It states it is there and I think it is in tack, but JAWS 13 will not
read anything in it or start reading at the top as it once did. I tried to
enter a duplicate contact and it stated it was a duplicate which tells me
the contacts should still be there.
What can I do to regain access to my Contacts like I had in the past?
Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Re: [Blind-Computing] New Captcha-Solving Service for BlindComputerUsers

2012-09-13 Thread mark
Hi David,
I agree that a person can get quite over extended on volunteering. As
far as the capture images go, the people who are upset about paying for
capture solving can still use the add on for Mozilla. So, I am not sure what
all the disturbance is about.
 Just my thoughts.

Just to follow up on this thread before it gets out of hand I would like you
all to consider the following thoughts.

Many of you out there are well aware of the fact that I share my time and
skills quite openly but then I run into a problem. It turns out that when I
do that for too many people then things in my little corner of the world
suffer from lack of attention because too much time has been spent helping
others.

Some times I receive compensation but often enough I do not even when it is
understood from the start that I am expecting it for services rendered. That
means the person in question no longer gets help from me. The fact is people
are over anxious to take advantage of anything free and even feel that they
are entitled. So much that they will over use anything for free but the
minute a price tag is inserted in to the mix they want nothing to do with
it.

I agree that over charging is not an acceptable practice and a job well done
should be rewarded. The fact is $0.21 for all the more often you need such a
service is well within the reach of every person blind or not. If you have
an internet connection and can afford one of the major screen readers then
you can spare $0.21. Look at it as a small price to pay for a work around.

I am willing to bet that at such a price for all of those little boxes that
has ever crossed my desk I might be out at the most $1.05. Can you say candy
bar?

I don't want to start a major debate on here but I just wanted to give my
thoughts on the matter from the perspective of somebody who has been over
extended far too often in the name of charity.
David Ferrin

that mind don't matter.

I'll probably get a lot of people upset for saying this but until last year
I was a high partial. I used to solve captias for a lot of my totally blind
wife's friends for free when I could see to do it because I thought anyone
who charged per captia was taking advantage of blind people. Now that I can
bareley see to do the captia myself I feel even more strongly that we should
not have to pay per captia for a service that should be accessible anyway.
Captia is a load of crap and there should be a better, more accessible
alternative for securing web sites or whatever people are using captia to
secure. I realize this is just my opinion and I am stating it as just my
opinion.

[Blind-Computing] Trouble opening links in Outlook 2010

2012-09-12 Thread mark
Hi
I am having trouble getting links to open in outlook 2010. I keep
getting an error message saying to contact my system administrator. I am the
system administrator. Thus, it is telling me to go talk to myself. Anyway,
after following the steps I found on the internet that suggested I reset IE
8, I am no farther along than I was before. Now what should I do?
 Thank you.

Hi Mark,
The search box on my site is a custom Google search.
Whatever search string you type in the box,
will yield Google search results at the top of the list, and then the ones
on my site.
You will need a Google account to use this search, and then you simply go
to:

http://www.google.com/cse/

Once you log-in, you can customize your search, and then it will generate
the code for you.

one can use a blind friendly version of the Google search box. So, I was not
sure if I should actually install the search box on my sight or not. If I do
install the search box, I want to be sure that it gives a large amount of
data in response to any search query. I am thinking that rick would be able
to help me with sorting out the settings for a search box. I have found that
for myself, using the Google labs version for blind people doesn't give me
the results I am looking for. So, I am trying to figure out a good balance
before I install it on my site at:
http://www.christiantraditions.info
I would want it to be a full web search, not limited to my sight. That way
if people wanted they could use my sight as their home page.
 I hope this helps.

I have never received that particular message. However, if you have
jaws 13 you may want to try the built in OCR function. On the other hand, if
you have a different OCR program, you can print the document, and then scan

Re: [Blind-Computing] Window's 7 Sounds

2012-09-05 Thread mark
Hi
I usually just press enter when Jaws is sitting on the volume slider.
This also exits the volume control.
One other thing. If you want to adjust the volume of a specific
program, such as internet explorer, you need to have the program open when
you are setting the volume control. Windows adds and removes the programs
from the volume control as they are opened and closed. This has caused me
much consternation.

HI David,

In Windows7 go to run and type the following: sndvol.
As you tab along, you will come across various sliders: Jaws or system
sounds etc. simply press left and right arrow keys as well as page up and
page down, and you will find yourself raising or lowering sounds.
Once you have made your modifications simply press Alt+F4 as there is no Ok
button.

2012-09-03 Thread mark
Hi
I don't recall from when I was using that program before. However, it may
be that you will need to install a spell checking program. It seems to me that
in wlm that the spell check only started working after I installed MS Office. I
could be wrong about that.
A makeshift measure would be to install tiny spell. This is a standalone

I have finally gotten reasonably familiar with the Windows Live Mail 2011 by
referring extensively to the Jaws Guide for it written by David Bailes. But
the answer to my problem is not there.
There is no spell check that works. I went to the Options menu and the box for
spell check outgoing messages is checked.
I have gone to the command to spellcheck an individual message. I have tried
the F7 shortcut. Nothing works.
I am using Win 7 and Jaws 11.
Do I need to install a separate spell checker? I used to depend heavily on the
spell checking in the WLM 2009 but I can’t get this program on my new laptop so
I must deal with
the 2011 program. But as a former school teacher I really hate sending out

Is this a Jaws problem since I am only using Jaws 11 and not Jaws 13?

I often enough just switch between jaws and NVDA - turn off the one, and
then turn on the other using the shortcuts they both have on desktop, with
shortcut keys assigned.

Also, if, by accident, they both end up running, insert key + number row 3
tells jaws to pass next key through to other apps, so I can then next hit
insert + Q to tell NVDA to exit/unload.

Hi Mike,

In your original message you asked the following:
In Windows Mail, how do you send a page or link by email?

Using just about all Internet Explorer browsers you can press F6 to
highlight the path of the webpage you are currently viewing.

Press Control + letter C to copy the path (it will already be highlighted)

Press control Shift F6 to return focus back to webpage.
Note: I have noticed that pressing control shift F6 does not always return
focus to webpage. At times the focus stays stuck on the URL path. I have to
switch to another webpage then alt tab to the previous webpage to take focus
off of address bar and back to content of the webpage.

You can now paste the URL in any document including an email message.

 Hi
Well, I was taught a basic signature that I can write on paper
documents. This does require having someone you trust to read the
 documents
to you and to show you where to sign. You can by an inexpensive signature
guide, or just have the person at the counter set the credit card at the
bottom of the signature area. This works for bank papers, and other
documents. There is no reason to have a sighted person on your account
 with
you unless you want them to be.
Now then, the above part has little to do with computers. However, this
part is more computers oriented for the list. Personally, I use banks that
let me do most of my banking online. That way I can keep a tight watch on
 my
money. Most credit card companies in the USA let you manage your account
online as well. What you will need is a reliable person to read the
information like account numbers as you are setting up your accounts. Once
they are set up, you can then reset your passwords for your privacy.
It is true that in the days before the computer one may have needed a
sighted person on the account with you However, Thanks to the computer,
 and
the internet, blind people are living mostly independent lives.
 I hope this helps.

magic jack unit that one plugs in to the computer and you plug a phone in to
it to make phone calls. Suddenly it stopped working. I had been out of town
for a few weeks which was long enough to let the battery on the laptop drain
down.
While trying to trouble shoot the problem on the magic jack, I found
that the computers date had been reset all the way back to 2006. When I
corrected this issue, Norton's decided my subscription was 2000 days
overdue. Thus, I needed new anti-virus. I removed Norton's and installed
Microsoft security essentials. After all this, I did a manual start of the
magic jack unit. Wow, it is working as well as it ever did.
I just wanted to remind folks that if you have strange computer issues
that don't seem to be resolvable through the normal ways, try checking the
date and time settings.

God bless,
Mark

Re: [Blind-Computing] Microsoft word!

Hi
It has been a while since I installed MS Word. However, I think you can
install it in demo mode, and wait for sighted assistance to enter the
registration key. It seems to me that the key was on a yellow tag in or on
the box.
 I hope this helps.

Re: [Blind-Computing] How to fix broken USB plug on external hard drive

2012-07-25 Thread Mark
Hi John, and Jacob,
Well, I just completed dissecting the hard drive before reading Johns
E-Mail. John, you are right in that the Minnie USB plug was surface soldered
to the small bred board in the hard drive case. It would take someone with
good eye sight, a steady soldering hand, and a lot of time to fix it.
However, I was very grateful for Jacobs idea of putting it in a new case.
This give me hope. I was able to unplug the controller FROM THE HARD DRIVE
AND FIND IT LOOKS LIKE SOME TYPE OF STANDARD hard drive data plug. However,
I do not know what type of data plug it is. I will need to sort that out in
order to find a compatible drive box. I also need to get it measured to see
what with box to be looking for. If anyone has ideas on these topics or a
good place to buy the box I would appreciate them.
 Thank you.

God bless,
Mark

Jacob,
As I read Mark's problem, I believe that the tension clips have snapped.
These are small plates which fit tightly against the smaller type of USB
jack and keep it from moving.
If one of them snaps, that particular connector is useless.

Worst comes to the worst, you can generally transfer/move the actual drive
over/into another new, healthy housing, or possibly, simply replace the
cable for that housing as such - for example, my two separate external USB
cabled hard drives are in two rather different housings, since the one is a
larger, physical dimension drive, but, smaller in terms of capacity, and
they're both actually the same internal hardware as you would normally find
with a normally mounted, internal hard drive, but just mounted in these
externally housings that then let you connect them via USB cables, and
provide power sources for them, etc. etc.

Either way, first thing to do would be to see if just cable can be replaced,
and lots of these external drive housings use various standard connector
cables of shared varieties as well.

Stay well

 Hi
Today I tried to plug in my USB 500 GB external hard drive. I noticed
it didn't come up as a drive under the list of drives under windows 7. So,

 I
started trouble shooting it. I notice that the USB Minnie jack on the
 drive
was a little loose. As I was examining it I heard a snap and it became
 very
loose. Apparently this is the problem with why the drive is not working. I
check the cable against another device and it is good. My question is how
 do
I get this jack fixed? I have a lot of personal data that I need to access
on this drive. Any ideas are appreciated.
 Thank you.

Well, I have been experimenting with search engines. It takes some
experimentation, but it is possible to use the standard:

Hi,

I do not often use internet but have not had trouble until today. I am now
advised that the access experiment started July 2006 is no longer supported
and that hitting the link for Jaws use would allow joining that lab would
give good access; the link did not work. Should I have some new Google
access for the internet?

Any help would be appreciated and the more detailed the better.

Lloyd

Thanks in advance.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Credit Card for online purchasing

2012-07-03 Thread Mark
Hi
Well, I was taught a basic signature that I can write on paper
documents. This does require having someone you trust to read the documents
to you and to show you where to sign. You can by an inexpensive signature
guide, or just have the person at the counter set the credit card at the
bottom of the signature area. This works for bank papers, and other
documents. There is no reason to have a sighted person on your account with
you unless you want them to be.
Now then, the above part has little to do with computers. However, this
part is more computers oriented for the list. Personally, I use banks that
let me do most of my banking online. That way I can keep a tight watch on my
money. Most credit card companies in the USA let you manage your account
online as well. What you will need is a reliable person to read the
information like account numbers as you are setting up your accounts. Once
they are set up, you can then reset your passwords for your privacy.
It is true that in the days before the computer one may have needed a
sighted person on the account with you However, Thanks to the computer, and
the internet, blind people are living mostly independent lives.
 I hope this helps.

God bless,
Mark

Hello all,
I'd like to make a credict card.
But I have a trouble with the signature in document papers.
HSBC Vietnam suggest me that I should have a sighted account owner help me
to do it. They mean the sighted person will be the responsible person, he /
she signs in document compact. Hence, I am just a user. However, I don't
like this way since I have to much depend on a owner. Now I'm waiting them
for asking their upper posisions.

Anyone could tell me how you can own credict cards and bank accounts?

Thank you very much,
