is everytime I go from one router to another I have to clear the line of the
previous router before being able to access it again. Is there some command
that I'm missing that will allow me to just access any router

I am setting up a lab and using a Xyplex 1620 for a terminal console server.
I have gotten most of the settings figured out, but when I try to reload, I
answer no to the save config question, and when I press enter the Proceed
with reload? [confirm] question is automatically answered with ^@ and

it running (sort of) but I lose a few characters under heavy
load. This is odd, since 9600 baud is hardly heavy

I am having a problem getting a CS-516 to reverse telnet to a 3524XL Switch.
The 516 is running 10.3(7) and can reverse telnet to routers, a PIX and VPN
3005 with no problem.
If I move a known good port from say a router to the 3524, it will not make
the connection.
If I connect my PC serial
we have a couple hundred of those same 3524xl boxes running on
console servers in cisco and have no problems...no special setup either.

Another option is a CS-508. It is an old model Cisco terminal server with 8
lines. I have a CS-516 and it works fine as a terminal server. You can find
them on ebay in the $200 range for the 8 port.

To actually connect to a console takes somewhere in the area of 5
minutes, I hope that is not normal. Also, many times I get Connection
refused by remote host although I could connect 20
You may want to try the no-exec under your line con 0
Maybe there's a bunch of noise of the line from the other boxes trying
to establish a connection.

Thank-you to those that pointed me in the direction of the Cyclades Terminal
Server.

Although if you telnet from the linux box then you are just as insecure as

Hey, why not look into Cyclade's Terminal Server? It runs linux
which means you get ssh v2, plus they say you can get the 16 port version
for around $2200 bucks. Compared to the $4500, seems like you are WAY
ahead of the game. They say they will have a web interface soon and at
that point
(afaik).

Well, I just want to let everyone to be aware that even though Cyclade
Terminal Server is an excellent product (I like it best with SSH version
2 support and also support for SSH key authentication, which Cisco also
lacks. The only drawback about this product (abeilt a minor one
net from there to
the term server? Another step - but probably more secure...and a lot
cheaper than another router.
