Well, for anybody who might be interested, I ended up doing a reinstall and letting MD 8.1 configure both of the video cards, with just XFree86 4.1.0 and no 3D acceleration. Someday hopefully Radeon PCI cards will be supported with DRI enabled. Thanks to all who replied with suggestions. Steve
