anything to the C since the HW is completely different. That said, I
really don't _know_ and look forward to other's more informed responses.

seen
ethernet-only cards in low-end 3400s, but not the reverse. Of course, as
yer down-undah maybe y'all got something different than what shipped to
USA customers.
Is your Kanga's physical comm port RJ-11, RJ-45 or something else
entirely?

this is an appropriate place for Kanga discussions,
as KG notes it shares more with the 3400 than with later G3 serie. Hmm,
though come to think of it, the Wallstreet seems to share alot of
3400/Kanga features . . . :-)

the splitter, just plug an RJ-11 phone line directly into
the 'com' port. The Kanga does however need an extension for the
enet/modem card to work, IIRC it's called something whacky like
Powerbook 3400/G3 Modem.

As noted on the above page it's not issue-free but so far it appears to
be a very workable solution for PB1400 die-hards.

any, not that that means much though. Perhaps I have the only PB1400 HD

All PowerBooks save the 100 have 32 bit clean ROMs and can therefore use
OSes later than 7.5.x.

be the 550c but that's pn 661-1034. I'll
have to look at the boards I've got to see if I can tell any difference
between them (assuming I've got samples of _both_ types.) In any case, I
doubt PPC compatibility has anything to do with it.

the same basic pinout and
devices designed for the 190/5300 can be used in the later 'Books.
If you look at a Wallstreet's EBM connector you'll find the same part
used there as well, but the pinout is not related to any other PB model's
connector. Apple just liked that connector I guess. :-)
