I used the BSCN book (for CCNP) then used the Doyle TCP/IP Routing Volume 1
book for it's IS-IS chapter. However, I don't believe Doyle's book covered
IS-IS as well as the exam requires (or it could have been me not reading it

Yes, the telco can loop the CSU in a Cisco, sounds like you just had a tech
that didn't know what they were doing. I get that all the time, someone
thinks they are running right to the CSU but they are in fact running to the

I agree that collision cannot happen on a serial interface. I read some
where not quite sure where might have been caslow, but if you do increment
collisions on a serial interface you are looking at a software problem.

I have a 1720 router with the VPN/firewall software
installed. Does any one have a sample config to setup
the router to allow users to VPN in from home? All I
can find on Cisco's site is how to create a branch to
branch tunnel.
It would be appreciated.

I accidentally deleted the original post - ah well.
We have a similar problem here - which we are hoping to solve by moving the
unix box to where the users are :-)
However I assume you have users at the central site who are using it as
well.
I suspect that your overall proportion of telnet
can someone advise me on whether to go to ccie security route or to ccie
routing and switching route? i am hearing that ccie security lab already has
waiting list till jan/feb 2002.
are there any practice labs available for ccie security?

What will your users be using? Vpn client 3 or cisco secure client 1.1 or
win2k vpn client?

I am completely biased (since I am one of the owner's of NLI), but I do know
of over 150 CCIE's that have used the ccbootcamp labs to get their CCIE...I
havent heard of one CCIE yet that has used the other labs to get their #.
:)
Also, the bootcamp labs are constantly being updated and added on

I have this scenario and wonder if it is possible to setup the topology with
redundancy. I have a CAT 6509 acting as the core switch (say switch A),
and 2 other CAT 6506 acting as the distribution switches (say switch B and
C). Both switch B and C have fiber uplinks to core switch
