Hello All,
I've recently installed Linux on my system and now I want to enable NIS login through
this. I went through the linux-nis.org -HOWTO to enable NIS. I am mentioning the steps
followed during the process.
1) Created yp.conf file with the DNS server name and ip address
2) checked domain

8.2 runs pretty well on my 300PL, but that has 160mb ram and has a UDMA100
controller card and 40gig 7200rpm hard drive
as well as a TNT2 PCI card.
and I only use KDE if there is something that I need to do that requires it.

If you install privoxy you can use any browser, and control behaviour for pop
ups, adverts etc site by site. It works really good.

I am using KDE 2.2.1 and my version of Konqueror has only three radio
buttons, not four: Allow, Ask, and Deny. "Deny" is too restrictive because
there are some good and useful uses of popups such as you described with
your banks. "Allow" is a poo

BTW, what do you think of iso'ing the iso? Feels like a hack (in a bad

so they work well enough..
I had to use rawrite on the mandrake CD to make a linux boot disk..
(I think the directory on the cd that contains the images is called /images)

Whilst looking for my CD-DVD drive under HardDrake I noticed several things.
There is no entry under Soundcard. This is my Audigy, and I guess
explains the sound problems I asked about before. (Side issue:
xcdroast's test sound used surround speakers! I couldn't get them when
playing a CD.)

I have at least 64mb for sure. This machine is an IBM
PC 300GL.
I tried making a dos boot disk with the win.exe
program but got some type of error saying that it is
not a Win32 application.

using cdrecord?
I know this often comes up as a problem, but I actually want to do it (to
archive an .iso image, is that so strange?).

you know, I don’t believe that the DHCPD is what you need if you are trying to
configure it as a client. Dhcpd is the daemon which provides the service to
others. If you are not trying to make a dhcp server, I wouldn’t recommend that
