We have a problem with our 3660 router. We forgot the enable password and
need to start from scratch and recreate the passwords. The problem is, the
router has no Flash memory, so the router only boots into Rommon mode...I

NT. One suggestion is to get an upgrade of Hyperterm from Hilgraeve

Well, I put the question to Cisco's open forum Q&A board, and got about the
same answer there - it can't be done.
So, I guess it is time to threaten to have the legal guys shake a stick at
them and then lock the router up in a big metal box with a little tiny hole
for the cable.

I've been told be someone who attended the Cisco training course on PIX that to do a password recovery on one you have to send it to Cisco for them to do it. However looking on Cisco's Web site I found the Password Recovery Procedure for PIX
ect chip. If that is not enough of a challenge, I am told that I need to
be a registered CCO user to get the password recovery utility. I cant see
how to become one outside of becomming a cisco employee!! Any ideas???

teraterm or get update from MS site and control-break should then work.

I have a 5505 that im trying reset to factory defaults. I have done this
many times and cant seen to get it to reset. I can get to the enable
prompt, however, its not excepting the null password. It had Tacacs setup
on it, i was wondering maybe if that was the problem...also, it isnt

I've followed the procedure to the letter

I've had to use a special floppy for both LocalDirector and Pix password
recovery. You make the disk with a file in the Software Center.
If you crack the case open you'll see it's just a PII motherboard, with an AGP
slot!

done the PIX password recovery per CCO and can confirm that it does indeed work
as stated. The only "gotcha" I can think would be a problem is knowing the
correct PIX OS version running on the box.
