a few days later a new kernel was
released . . . a little hard to be "scientific" with so many players
playing through the same machine . . . it might be akin to a "multiple
personality disorder."

@Walter:
Yes, this system was upgraded via console to 19.10 . . . but the same error
window shows up in U-MATE 18.04 as well.

So . . . new day . . . booted up the computer w/o key modifier and Grub
loaded, but provided no function to select OS, so we went into Lu 19.10 . .

it. Ran update/upgrade . . . "nothing to do" . . . checked social

I was able to boot into U-MATE this morning and I looked through the dmesg
stuff there, but on reboot I couldn't scroll through the grub list so the

Thanks for the fast reply, I'm away from that computer for the next few

Anything in /var/crash? Did you try reporting?

I did look at some logs I think when I was able to get into Leap . . . but
for sure I didn't look at /var/crash . . . but I have clicked "send report"
Folks:
Been having some "problems" in my multi-boot set up running a few different
versions of OSX with a few versions of linux . . . grub seems to have lost
the ability to select from among the choices in spite of running
"update-grub" a number of times . . . .
But, in both of the ubuntu
@Walter:
Thanks for the update, glad to hear you got a fix pushed through, it was
kind of a "nasty" one . . . . I had a few spare moments today, but not
enough time to mess with the download and re-install of 19.10; so I
"adjusted" my /etc/apt/sources.list to include the word "eoan" in various

Just to update, got the 19.04 live edition . . . used mkusb to create

steps I did for 19.10 . . . only difference in this install the installer
asked me to flag the EFI partition as "esp" . . . which I did. A few
Folks:
Problem I think is "confirmed" . . . waited until the "6/15" daily showed
up on the server, zsync'd it to the latest version, the old one was "91%"
the same as the new one. Rather than re-using the U-MATE startup creator
app, I added "mkusb" to the sources.list and installed that . . .
Folks:
A few weeks ago I had a "sid" system problem that seemed to spread damage
across the two drives that I had linux distros installed on . . . so I had
to nuke the drive that I had U-MATE &7 Lubuntu 19.04 installed on . . . and
I've been working my way back to Lu babe . . .: -)
