I'm trying to install MDK 9.1 on a VIA C3. I get an insmod error during
hardware detection when it reboots, but I don't think that's my problem
(I can't find anything in the logs about IO or IRQ errors).

If you're using the GUI, in KDE:
Why don't you use kpackage to uninstall, and go to rpmfind.net download the
new version and install it with kpackage.
Or use rpmdrake.
U can just type the kpackage or rpmdrake in the command line and it will run
the programme.

is there any way to convert text to speech in linux? Also, I've got
a AT&T Natural voice instalable for windows ... any linux program that
would be able to use that technology? Any good sounding text to speach
system? In windows I would convert whole articles, burn them on cds &
then listen
a lot of people, friends using more 'hardcore' distros like
Slackware advertise kernel recompilation. I myself chose Mandrake
because I don't want to get into low level stuff a lot ... I just want a
cool linux box. However ... I'm wondering; is such a thing hard? Maybe
it's like maybe 5 comm
