I've just put Mandrake Community 10.1 on my computer and realized
Official was available. I hate to have something better available and
not use it. Is it possible to upgrade to Official without having to
reinstall Mandrake as Official instead of Community? This also brings
up the question
ClamAV and F-Prot can both scan a windows partition from Linux.
However, I doubt they would be much help if you are trying to clean an ntfs
partition.

turned out I either had a bad video card, it was a diamond 3d, ancient pci
card. Installing an oddball mpact3 that I had laying around solved the
problem. YMMV

Ok. I've loaded 4.0 version of rpm and I am still getting the error when
trying to do rpm -Uvh filename.rpm "An rpm in db1 format exists in
/var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm. Please convert to db3 format by running "rpm
--rebuilddb" as root. What is db1 and db3 format's? Thanks.

Is make installed on your machine? How about ncurses-devel,
glibc-devel, and binutils-rpm? Not sure, but you might also need bin86
and sh-utils, also. I didn't get menuconfig to work on the first few
