It's probably to handle the additional weight in the rear - more weight means it needs more braking power. If you don't load up the rear, the sedan calipers would most likely be fine, and better than no rear brakes! Do the tires sit outside or in a garage? My 2013 F150 has the original tires, about 30K miles, and they look good. The truck owner's manual says to replace a 7 years regardless of miles/wear. It sits in the garage unless I'm driving it, which is not that often or far. I'm thinking one more year and I'll replace them. The aircraft avionics have proprietary custom coded OS's that have to pass very rigorous testing before they are certified for use. That having been said, I use a non-certified device for navigation that runs on embedded Windows (can't remember what the official name is). It's never failed us in 10 years of use. The same company sells versions of the software that runs on Windows, Android, and IOS - very nice to have the exact same software on whatever platform you have. The main selling point of the embedded Windows device is the 1200 NIT screen and that it doesn't do anything else - dedicated to navigation. Some of the airbus reboot efforts could be stymied by the built-in backup batteries in most of those devices (EFIS). Just be sure that they draw blood before doing the finger exam. The finger irritation can cause an increase in the PSA, triggering a false alarm. I Doc told me once that the colonoscopies reduce the chance of dying from colon cancer by under 10% and he thought that was a big deal. I told him to shove it. We've been using the cologuard tests instead. That colon blow-out is not without its own risks, not to mention the change of a perforated colon. I think the whole thing is a scam. Our house came with a home plate shaped jetted tub. The jets spewed red an black gunk regardless of how much we tried to clean them, so we had it removed. There was a separate shower in the bathroom as well. We had the tub replaced with a shower for two with a full complement of geezer bars, a seat, and shower heads at the appropriate height for each of us (6' and 5'4"). The step under the glass door is about 2". It is very nice after a bout of bed exercise, scrubbing each other's backs, and has been a lifesaver when we've (each) broken bones. plenty of room for one to wash the other while they are incapacitated. It is made from the same DuPont stuff that Corian countertops are made of, custom made to fit the space, custom colored to our specs. It was so expensive that I've blocked the price from my memory - think airplane parts. Your experience with the W115 mirrors mine - I had three of them over the years. I always put the front end up on stands as high as I could get it to make it easier to deal with the filter housing. I missed removing the old o-ring once, put a new one on the housing - and found out that it doesn't seal that way! I did prefer the handling/driving of the W115 to the W123 - hard to beat a good double wishbone front suspension. Overall, the W123 chassis is MUCH easier to work on than the W115. Just the hood going up past vertical is significant. I've done it twice - on a '70 220D and a '76 300D - both W115s. The proper way per the factory repair manual takes 16 hours to R - remove the dash, all the heating ducting, etc. The second time IPulled it out through the front center speaker hole - enlarging it just enough to pull the fan out, then put the new one in. That time it only took 8 hours. A lot of that time is spent lying on the floor - would be easier with the front seats removed. I wouldn't try it today - I'm not as limber as I was in the '80's and '90's. I would say that the flexible hose is very easy to install. I replaced the PVC because it is rated for water pressure, not compressed air and it was not routed where I wanted it. I have a shutoff valve right at the compressor and shut it off when I don't need the air. There are still a leaks somewhere - it will drop 15 PSI over 24 hours and I don't want the compressor running when I'm not using the air. On the ones I worked on, the access port/hole was centered on the bottom of the mounting flange, covered with a dust plate - access looking to the rear from the front side. yes, you'll need to lift the engine to get to it, and be able to rotate the crank to get all the bolts, usually two per ear the Jim pointed out. I know of two people who have owned these. Both had expensive maintenance issues with them, and they bought them new. Both sold the cars as soon as the extended warranty expired. Remember, it's a BMW, and parts and service are priced accordingly. The one time I had trouble with it, I cleaned every electrical connector I could find in the engine compartment and never had another bit of engine trouble. I finally sold it after too many winter days commuting to work with next to no heat and about the same amount of defrost, also because my wife never could master the standard with the hills at stop lights. I found that liquid Windex removed cig residue and smell from used darkroom equipment - it seems that all the used equipment I bought came from smoker's darkrooms. Scrubbing with a brush or rag soaking wet with Windex did the trick in one treatment. I forgot the extreme ends of my collection - I have an almost complete spy setup of Minox B camera and accessories - just missing the packets of chemistry. I rigged up a couple of exacto blades to slit 35mm film to load in Minox cartridges, techpan and tri-x. I only played with the cameras though, no spy work. On the other end, I had a 20"x20" process camera on horizontal rails that I bought for the 19" lens. I mounted the lens on an 8x10 for portraits. One of the points I like about the Nikon system is that I can use all of my old Nikon glass on the current digital bodies. For my next photo adventure, I'm re-building the Woody's Pusher with a plexiglass dome nose with a mount for the D750 - I'll be able to "point and shoot" with the airplane, just like a gun camera in a fighter. My current favorite lens for aerial video is the Irix 11mm on the full frame D750 - almost fisheye coverage, but rectilinear drawing. BTDT, more or less. Dad and I built a camper that bolted onto a pickup frame from a pair of Beech D18 fuselages. in the early '60's. It didn't much look like an airplane afterwards, but it was more functional than that Bell version.
