Re: CSquestion regarding CS production
Hi Asif, Welcome. The anode current should be limited to less than 1 mA per square inch (1 mA per 645 mm^2 ). For fine results you could go much less than that, but going higher is bound to be rough on the electrode and to produce 'thingies' in the water. Contaminaton of the cell is most likely causing the particles, traces of detergent is the usual culprit there , as is wiping the electrodes with paper or cloth but anything that could float or fall in could be the problem. There are many variables : temperature, conductivity of the starting water, voltage across the cell, electrode distance apart, electrode aspect to each other. Nailing down as many as possible while varying just one will be very helpful while you are learning. Increasing temperature speeds up the reaction. Voltage vs Distance apart are sort of inverse proportion. current is proportional to particle size, sort of. Re: CSquestion regarding CS production
Hi Tony, I have calculated that I have around 750mm squared area per electrode.. or just over 1 square inch per electrode... with 3 anodes... I would say that I would split that over 3 would be around 0.5 ma per electrode approx and that should be ok in terms of maintaining less than 1ma per inch squared so that one goes down the suspect list. I have been cleaning the electrodes with paper kitchen towels I think that there may be bits of fluff leftover possibly I terms of silver purity... I have very little to check the precise voracity of the Silver, however when I purchased the coin.. I did have it checked by an XRF machine which confirmed that the surface at least was 99.99. I also did some tests of 99.99% vs 92.5% with a silver testing kit.. bought for this purpose... and it also collaborated that the wire was ok... I am heading towards an assumption that the carrying vessel used to transport the distilled water to my may have been contaminated possibly (2L fizzy drink bottle), paper towel fluff.. and too much current which seems to be improved by creating more distance between and electrodes and tripling the electrodes due to the thin wire. I think its time to go on a famous auction site and hunt for a distiller to call my own!.. I will report back once I get brewing again... RE: CSquestion regarding CS production
Hello Asif, While the electrode terminals on the SG6 are on 2 cm centers, the electrodes are bent at the top at 90 degrees to make the connection. This brings the electrodes out to the outside edge of the terminals. You end up with electrodes that are spaced 4 cm in the water. From your description it sounds like your current was 1.5 mA initially. Since your maximum voltage is 30 volts, I would expect the current to be no more than a few microamps at the start, and approach or hit the 1.5 mA near the end of brewing. If it is running 1.5 mA initially, then the water is not pure, regardless of what the meter says. What did you wash the bottle out with? Any soap remaining at all can ruin the whole process. Hi Asif, I don't believe you mentioned how long your brew process goes, but here's a couple of things I'd be looking into: a) Taking the electrodes out to 4cm apart. b) Using a larger volume brew vessel for that dimension electrodes. I brew a litre or more at a time using electrodes shorter than yours {between 8cm and 10cm depending on which of my units I use on the day}. My electrodes are 3mm dia tho. c) Remove the electrodes at regular timed intervals to wipe them clean {if you think they need it or not} before resubmerging them. Sparklies in the water?...I've noticed that some DW I purchase {only an El Cheapo brand} shows some sparklies upon using laser pointer straight from the bottle. I have also seen microscopic bits of 'fluff?' or fibre, or whatever may be in the air on the day I brew become evident in the water after a couple days in storage {I store in sealed containers}. I believe these give the illusion of settlement due to some silver 'attaching?' to these microscopic bits of 'stuff?' present in the DW, or which has entered the water from the air during my brew process {I brew in an open top vessel}. One I made several years ago when first getting involved with this stuff, using 80-85mm length electrodes, ran at 66mA {if I read the multimeter correctly back then} and the voltage was 25.5v using a mains power converter to bring voltage down to 24vDC, but it actually ran at 25.5v when electrodes were initially submerged. I've changed my configuration a little over the years in later units I've made and have never checked the mA or voltage {unscientific I know, but that's me}, I still use the same electronic internals though, which is a 38ohm resistor running with an LED and the same mains power converter bringing voltage down to 24vDC. I did make a unit with electrode spacing of around an inch, or around 25mm, many moons ago but the end product always seemed to show colour over time in storage so I shelved that unit. I also made a magnetic stirrer. N. Subject: Re: CSquestion regarding CS production From: asifnathe...@hotmail.com Date: Tue, 7 Jun 2011 00:31:59 +0100 To: silver-list@eskimo.com It takes about 2-3 hours to go to from 28 to 6v after which it starts making sludge I am thinking of buying my own distiller so that I can control the process better. I have been brewing only 1 liter batches. I found a 300g coffee jar ideal. Plus it was a glass jar. I cannot increase the width of the electrodes any further than 3.5cm as I have mounted them on the coffee jar lid. Which doesn't give me much real estate after the motor on top. I understand that the silvergen SG6 has it's electrodes 2cm apart and uses 1 ma. ( I remember from a trem's post) I have been wiping the electrodes every 20 mins. The cathodes get black fairly quickly. Although things have improved by using 3 anodes. And distancing the electrodes further to 3.5cm. They seem to make the brew more cleanly. I have run out distilled water. So I will not be able to tweak the setup until then. Also may I ask what voltage and current are you using for your setup? Sent from my iPhone On 6 Jun 2011, at 23:57, Neville Munn one.red...@hotmail.com wrote: Hi Asif, I don't believe you mentioned how long your brew process goes, but here's a couple of things I'd be looking into: a) Taking the electrodes out to 4cm apart. b) Using a larger volume brew vessel for that dimension electrodes. Just a few things I'd be looking at if it were me. N. SILVER GEN AND THE JAR TO USE UNDERNEATH IT The silver gen will apparently output the CS into any jar? Any recommendations - like mason jars? I'm wondering about the sterility of glasses. You can make your own magnetic stirrer, and the stirrer bars as well if you don't want to spend a couple of bucks on buying some. 1. STORAGE I'm thinking I should store in glass. I just washed out a nice apple juice glass bottle with a handle and thought should the glass be dark, or can I use clear glass with a covering like tinfoil or black paper round the outside to keep out the light? -I just use clear glass storage vessels which have a rubber seal but I think the metal lid itself is polished stainless steel, or praps aluminium, and stick them in a cupboard, ensuring I don't splash the stuff up on the lids. If travelling I use one of those clear plastic pump bottles you buy water in. 2. SILVER GEN AND THE JAR TO USE UNDERNEATH IT The silver gen will apparently output the CS into any jar? Any recommendations - like mason jars? I'm wondering about the sterility of glasses. I don't have a dishwasher. Is it important what I wash my glasses in and if so what do you recommend. -I don't wash any containers out, just wipe them out with a paper towel, definitely NO soap etc. 3. SILVER DOSAGE BOTTLES I want to make this to keep us health and to give away to women's groups with a view to selling it at half the price of the cheapest colloidal on the market or exchanging it for other commodities like honey, food etc. What kind of bottles would you recommend for this? Is there any recommended amount that you'd recommend as a daily dosage [assuming we're not plagued by a specific ailment in which case I know you all have lots of ideas on how to use silver that way] -Haven't a clue about any 'recommended' amount, I ingest around 30ml every morning {uS/ppm reading dependant} as a daily maintenance thing. 5. WHERE TO BUY Any leads on where to find good bottles, low cost? I also want spray bottles, so that I can spray my gums. 6. SILVER TESTING METERS I hear you all talk about ppm and associated things.. and meters for testing silver. I'd like to do this and be able to say my silver is of x consistency. Anyone recommend any good [low cost] meters. -Well, here's one question which will draw some responses I'm sure g. I use the COM100, the COM3 and a Hanna TDS3 and my records show they're all as near as damn it as far as I'm concerned, none of them are accurate but are all *inaccurate* to a similar degree or tolerance, laboratory analysis will in all likelyhood show you'll have more than they'll indicate anyway. Choice is yours, they'll all get you in the ballpark, any more precise and I believe laboratory analysis is called for, particularly if considering retail. Meters are OK for the backyard, but I certainly wouldn't entertain purchasing a product which has only been tested with a meter...or three, that's why I make my own EIS, and had several samples of mine laboratory analysed...I don't trust anyone in this game. OK, that's my two bobs worth. N. Gosh whatalota questions... so thanks for any suggestions... I'm excited about this new venture in our lives.. preparing ourselves to maintain wellness .. Re: CSHoney CS production
Dear Deborah and Carol Ann, I wouldn't worry too much about honey. This suggestion has been around for a very long time and dates back to when many people were still using salt as a starter to speed things up. When making low concentration CS with pure silver and distilled water only, you don't *need* to do anything to structure the water. Whether it's of any use or not, I don't know. I do know most of us have been doing without any additives for some years, making CS that's as good as we need. Just ran across this info...has anyone tried it, and/or care to comment on the following: Merlin Wolf gave me a great tip for making superlative colloidal silver, with less concern for oxide buildup and runaway current flow. He suggested placing one tiny drop of honey into the solution at the beginning of the process. You're not missing anything, ladies. It's just an old idea that continues to circulate in the marketplace. Be well, Mike D. Honey IS sugar. Do yo mean crystalized? If so then place the bottle of honey into a pan of hot water, and after a few hours it will liquify again. Marshall Deborah Gerard wrote: what if the honey is turned to sugar?...thanks debbie francis luze i...@bio-plasmics.org wrote: Just ran across this info...has anyone tried it, and/or care to comment on the following: Merlin Wolf gave me a great tip for making superlative colloidal silver, with less concern for oxide buildup and runaway current flow. He suggested placing one tiny drop of honey into the solution at the beginning of the process. Honey is a saccharide (sugar) which structures the electrical and magnetic properties of water in a very unique way. This structuring allows the silver colloid to form at a faster rate, while at the same time reducing the buildup of silver oxide that would normally occur without the addition of the honey. Why this happens, I am not sure-but it works! You wind up with a higher density silver concentrat! ion (measured in parts per million {ppm}), made in a shorter period of time, with less buildup of silver oxide on the positive electrode! What a guy! If you wish to use Merlin's honey trick, take a toothpick or a chop stick and dip it in honey. Let the majority of the honey drip back into the honey jar. The small glob that remains on the end of the toothpick will fall off as a tiny droplet when you hold it an inch over the steaming hot glass of water. You want the smallest drop of honey possible. Thanks Mike. Appreciate the response. Really, its not something I was ever worried about, more to curiousity I guess and to whether it might contribute to a better quality solution and its something unlike using salt, I had never read anywhere before. Deb, I think that there is a difference between heating up a little and steaming. To get steam you have to reach at least approach boiling point. Thats hot water, not warm water. Re: CSSwitching rates for CS production
That depends on what voltage range you use. 30 volts and under..about 60 second intervals. Higher voltages increase ion velocity. The key is to get them far enough away from the electrode before the polarity swap sucks them back in. At 30 volts and under, they're moving pretty slow. If no stirring is used, a standing particle field can be observed to grow and shrink and it's location can be adjusted accordingly by varying the time between shifts. Too slow and both electrodes blacken. Too fast and both electrodes gather white stuff. Get it right and all that crud goes into the water. A coffee filter doesn't filter it all out. Letting the water settle for a few days and decanting does. 10,000 volts? 60 HZ will probably be it. Hi Nenah: I... used to obtain my solution from Alpha Omega Labs. It's their Hrx Solution, which I and others have used extensively over the last year or so with excellent results. To adjust the PH level of a silver solution to 7.0 only requires an extremely minute amount ( we only want to adjust the hydrogen, not add carbonate or salt into the mix, and Potassium Hydroxide is the single substance I've found that is equal to the task with CS ). For my high PH water ( ~ 10.0 - 10.5 ), I utilize distilled water, a very small amount of bentonite, and add a touch of CS. This helped greatly with my own recovery from internal acidic conditions that resulted in some minor -- if not painful -- cancer inconveniences. Sadly, the owners of Alpha Omega Labs are currently in jail, and the products I was getting ready to order have been seized by the FDA: http://www.altcancer.com And all shipments of orders suspended. While their website has been taken down, I have put it back up ( after arguing a bit with the company that sells me my bulk server space ): http://altcancer.silvermedicine.org All of the extensive data is present, minus the videos, which I have on CD and hard-drive. Sadly, every once and awhile the server failed to deliver an image, so every once and awhile one might see a broken image on their site. I'm hoping that this can be rectified when their web designer is released from federal custody. I'm certain that both the Hrx and the H3O ( hydronium ) formulations will be released for sale in the United States, once the Feds actually CHARGE Alpha Omega Labs. I found a local source for a solution, but it is inferior to the sol I'm used to getting; it's not as concentrated and thus much more expensive, plus I'm not exactly certain about their quality controls. There are quite a few companies that resell their products, and may still have some stock. Hopefully, there will be more news next week. I figure the US Federal Government cannot hold them forever without filing charges - at least without a national security seal slapped on their operations. -Original Message- From: M. G. Devour [mailto:mdev...@eskimo.com] Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2003 3:31 PM To: silver-list@eskimo.com Subject: CSAdditives to CS production... To Nenah and others discussing this: ...Back in the early days we were taught to use a pinch of salt (NaCl) or a drop or two of salt solution in our brew vessels as a starter to get the process going more quickly. Baking soda was also a suggested alternative. The result was a process that worked at high current and very rapidly, producing large particles that often settled out after a few days or weeks. In only took a few minutes to produce a batch, and your electrodes never had a chance to collect any fluff. The recipes you found online commonly stated that you would get about 1ppm per minute. It was quite exciting to watch, in fact, with all the bubbling and whisps of stuff coming off the electrodes. A lot of people used this method for a long time, and some still do. It was the first process I learned, and I used it for a year or two. It worked and was part and parcel of the popularization of Colloidal Silver in the modern era. Generally, people started moving towards using only distilled water when they began examining the particle size issue. There was some concern that the larger particles presented an increased risk of argyria, though that effect was never demonstrated. (Of course, now there's Stan, the Senate candidate.) There was also concern that the use of a starter produced other compounds (like silver chloride or carbonate), at least in the early stages of the process, that could be harmful in and of themselves. This was never proved to be a real concern, given the low toxicity and concentration of the likely by-products. (Except in Stan's case, of course! sigh) Nonetheless, people started working to understand the process in pure distilled water, leading to countless experiments in current limiting, other voltage ranges, AC vs. DC, polarity switching, and so on. All this is somewhat apart from the issue of pH. Adding buffers to the CS *after* production will still effect the ionic portion, likely leading to some colorful displays along the way as your silver ions precipitate and agglomerate into particles of silver salts. Certainly worth study. Perhaps a way can be found to balance the pH without compromising the silver component? One other thing I can suggest, if you're interested in the utility of these methods, is that *very low* concentrations of production additives were never explored to my satisfaction. They *might* prove beneficial to ease-of-production and reproduceability with minimal impact on safety or effectiveness. Who knows, eh? For the sake of the newcomers and lurkers, please understand that for now, at least, standard practice is to use only distilled water Mike D. - Original Message - From: Richard Harris yr...@cfl.rr.com To: silver-list@eskimo.com Cc: Richard Harris yr...@cfl.rr.com Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2003 8:15 PM Subject: RE: CSAdditives to CS production... If I were not concerned about pH, I would simply continue to make the CS the way I always made it. Now, I will experiment with adding much smaller quantities of baking soda to the distilled water to see if I can achieve a balance between a desirable pH and CS with a still-small particle size. Just for your information, a friend of mine experimented years ago adding minute quantities of salt, and then baking soda, to the water when he was making CS. (The sale and soda were in different batches ;) He found that salt inhibited the anti-microbial function of his CS, but the soda did not. If I were not concerned about pH, I would simply continue to make the CS the way I always made it. Now, I will experiment with adding much smaller quantities of baking soda to the distilled water to see if I can achieve a balance between a desirable pH and CS with a still-small particle size. Just for your information, a friend of mine experimented years ago adding minute quantities of salt, and then baking soda, to the water when he was making CS. (The sale and soda were in different batches ;) He found that salt inhibited the anti-microbial function of his CS, but the soda did not. Re: CSAdditives to CS production...
Re: CSultrasonic humidifiers and large volume CS production
Hi Reid, The standard thermal humidifier will leave all of the silver in unit as it boils the water. The ultra sonic unit vaporizes everything as it has no temperature rise. These units do consume large amounts of CS. What is why I use is the unit suggested by Brooks Bradley, an artists air brush. It makes a much finer mist than the commercial nebulizers and takes a very small amount of CS, as it is injected into the open mouth when one inhales. CSultrasonic humidifiers and large volume CS production
Ole Bob, Everybody, Your suggestion about the ulrasonic humidifier is a gem. Thanks. But this makes me think the response to your message may not be great, since this device may entail the use of big amounts of CS. Is this the case? If so I would like to revisit the HVAC generator designed by Terry Chamberlain. I find this to be an attractive option because it's possible to produce as many as 40 liters of high quality, 10ppm CS within a couple of hours. There are two links below, showing a fail safe glass cabinet to contain the generator. I built this cabinet to make the generator safe, to allay any possibility of a severe electric shock. The first link shows the cabinet with the electrical unit, converting 220DC to 110AC. Under this is a four liter jar, containing the silver coin electrodes. With a well built converter it's possible to add another nine such jars, bringing total capacity to 40 liters. Just to the left of the jar, notice the plug for the electrical unit. On the door, opposite, is the corresponding recepticle. So whenever one opens the door the circuit is tripped and one need never fear a shock. The second link shows an inset picture of the plug and recepticle, at upper left and lower right. Ole Bob, might I be correct that the ultrasonic humidifier may require big amounts of CS? If this is the case this HVAC system may prove to be a simple approach to big volume. I'd also like to ask a mundane question. How does an ultrasonic humidifier differ from a more conventional one? To begin with I'm doubtful I could find a conventional humidifier in my little corner of South Asia, but if I could it would be helpful if I could explain to the sales people what an ultrasonic humidifer is. Is it something we could build? Jonathan: This phenomenon is termed Psychic Transmutation by paranormal researchers. Medical scientists have now resorted to teaching patients to visualise and to make-believe the motor or sensory functions of their paralysed anatomy. The results are very encouraging. The God-empowered gift of visualization is unique in humans.Envisioning with great intent and desire to evolve invokes a great channelling of energy bringing about a photonic kindling to effect the crossing over from the etheric to the material realm. This morphic manifestation is a result of the resonant collisions of sub-atomic particles creating matter and giving rise to Form and Pattern with self-organizing sympathetic vibrations. This forms the basis of Prof Rupert Sheldrake's thesis on Morphic Resonance Thoughts, as visible speech, heard in silent reading, meditation or dialogue, are vibrations of the bones, amplified in mineralised body cavities. The water molecules in the serous layers lining body cavities are great electromagnetic amplifiers. CSDiscussion of the Electrochemical Reactions During CS Production
Ivan: I've incorporated you response to my initial proposal that attempts to describe which electrochemical reactions occur on the anode and cathode. Potential Anodic Reactions (1) Ag --- [Ag+] + 1e -0.80 volts (+ over voltage) (WE AGREE) (2) 4[OH-] - O2(g) + 2H2O + 4e -0.40 volts (+ over voltage) (ROGER) Potential Cathodic Reactions (3) 2H2O + 2e - H2(g) + 2[OH-] + 0.41 + 0.40 = 0.81 (WE AGREE) (4) [Ag+] + 1e Ag(s) +0.80 (+ over voltage) (WE AGREE) Ivan: Assuming that the over voltage for reaction (2) is such that its total voltage is near 0.8, and taking into account that OH- is produced by reaction (3) which will make it available as a reactant in reaction (2), why then would it not be a candidate to compete with reaction (1)? If a high over voltage is the reason why it cannot compete, how much is the over voltage? BTW, by incorporating reaction (2) as a competing anodic reaction, the resulting consumption of OH- could explain pH values below 7 for LVDC CS processes. CSApplying Magnetic Fields during CS Production
Anybody out there done any experimentation with applying magnetic fields to CS during production Many moons back, I knew a fellow who was experimenting with Bio-magnetics (long before it became fashionable). He was seeing pretty vivid results from South polarized water (water exposed for several hours to the south poles of several magnets) enhancing plant growth, and the use of North polarized water for human and animal use. I was considering charging the water magnetically at the same time as doing the electrolytic CS infusion by taping magnets to the outside of my jar while brewing. Anybody played with this at all ? Re: CSApplying Magnetic Fields during CS Production
My little 60 amp teapot warmer under my batches makes the run absolutely clear. Without that mini-hot-plate and convection currentsdoing 'stirring', other things being equal, the product is heavily milky. There is a small field off the teapot but since it is AC, whatever polarity it has will probably be reversing 60 times per second. My 6volt DC games transformer runs off the AC wallplug of course. When I run the milky batch (without the warmer) other thing being equal, there is no 'stirring' by convection and the milkiness hangs in about ten 'curtains' between the electrodes. This indicates that the 60 hertz is creating some kind of 'harmonics' (maybe?) anyone? The point is... how can we be sure we are NOT using magnetic fields as well as harmonics in all sorts of combinationsMarshall has a magnetic pump circulating his water...I am currently using a mini hot-plate, which, incidentally, will be cycling the same as the mini-transformer...Harmonics breaking down particles??? Re: CSRE: Subject: CShydrogen peroxide and CS production experiment [aquicky]
Kathy, I would think that your speculation about opening something up in your sinuses is totally correct. Many people with sinus problems have areas where a crust has formed over an area of infection. Sinus infections are very hard to clear up because they occur in the midst of bone which is not highly vascularized and therefore it takes a long time for any WBCs to get there. It's not a bad thing to get that opened up and drained out as it could possibly abscess or just fester. You should see the stuff we get out of peoples sinuses in surgery. We have to wear scents over our masks. If you got sick for a couple of days from it you probably had a lot of drainage from the sinus. You might consider doing it again occasionally just to keep the area open and infection free. Before the invention of nose drops people would sniff salt water to draw fluid from the tissues into the nasal passages therefore loosening the mucous plugs etc. and clearing the congestion out. At first it makes the membranes swell but the end result is a clearing of the nares. Good luck on your sinuses. At 10:51 AM 4/9/00 +1200, you wrote: Hi KD'C, What strength H2O2 are you using, I would guess 3% as you put some in your mouth without burning it! ## Yup, 3% right from the drugstore I have posted experiments (along with others) in the past, using 50% H2O2. If you care to check the archives, you may find the answers to most of your questions there. H2O2 does react with pure metallic silver, in fact passing high concentration H2O2 through a silver mesh is a method used in DIY rocket engines! ## YOW! 3% h202 didn't react [noticeably] immediately with the fresh silver but eventually turned the silver quite black. A small length (10mm) of new silver wire was left in 100mls of 50% H2O2 for a few days. A small stream of bubbles emanated from the silver and the concentration of silver ions in the solution increased from zero to well above 20ppm, as measured by Ion Selective Electrode (ISE). There was no silver oxide. ### Mine turned really black overnight. If that isn't silver oxide, what is it? A mystery here. Catalytic reaction too fast in 50% to make silver oxides? A nasty brew of dirty grey (inclusion of large uncharged metallic colloids, emanating from the cathode) CS was created, there was much fallout on the bottom of the container. Some of this colloid was taken, to which a few ml of 50% H2O2 was added. A great cloud of minute bubbles formed immediately, which were so small that the solution looked milky, and the Tyndal beam showed a shower of sparklies. Within a few hours the solution was completely clear, showing very little Tyndal effect. The concentration of silver ions increased as the solution cleared. I concluded that the H2O2 oxidised the metallic silver particles as it reduced to O2 gas and water, forming free silver ions and not silver oxide ### I'm having trouble with the definition of oxidation. To me, when an element combines with oxygen, it has been oxidized. When wood burns, it combines with oxygen in a rapid oxidation reaction producing among other things, carbon dioxide. Silver oxidizes to form dark colored silver oxides. Reduction is the reverse of oxidation...driving off the oxygen. Am I totally confused? You talk of the 'oxide load', what do you mean? Is this the build up on the neg. cathode or pos. anode, fall out on the bottom of the container or floaters on the solution surface, or colour in the solution? ## Buildup on the negative electrode [the oxygen producing one? I keep forgetting to check that and it's pretty important], fallout on the bottom, perhaps color in the sol...not totally proven to my satisfaction what causes that one way or the other yet... but not the floaters which retain the color of silver 'dust' and have all the characteristics of a dust on water surface tension. If the prods and container are cleaned about half way through, the oxide load seems greatly reduced. If fresh ozonated water is used with cool water, oxide load is great. If the water is warmed to about 100 deg F, bubbles form [dissolved ozygen?] and dissipate [bubbles off] and the subsequent process shows a greatly reduced oxide load. But, running with warm water increases hydrogen bubbles sticking to the other prod [Perhaps something to do with increased vapor pressure forming bigger more stable bubbles and surface tension of the water.] and silver gets trapped on or under the surface of the hydrogen bubbles making a gray fur that clings to one prod. When the prods are removed, the bubbles break at the surface and some of this silver transfers from the surface tension of the hydrogen bubbles to the surface tension of the water and makes what I call a gray floater. Back to h2o2 and new silver... so far, no reaction whatsoever. BTW, running the generator on straight h202 made a sour nasty tasting somewhat milky liquid that foamed in the mouth. Momentarily, a rabid looking coyote with a sour expression. I guess even with all that violent bubbling at the electrodes going on, the o2 content of the h202 was pretty much unchanged. Getting small bubbles coming off the new silver now [20 minutes or so]and some signs of gray/black tarnish and initial signs of slight pitting. Re: CS Production
- Original Message - From: gd...@aol.com Hi Gene You seem to be on to it. snip I reversed the polarity on the next run and the deposits came loose and dropped into the bottom of the jar or floated to the top as thin flakes. One question I have is if the polarity is switched every minute, what happens to these deposits? Are they kept in solution as colloidal silver or are they just dropped to the bottom anyway but with little build up on the electrodes? This is a question that I have studiously avoided discussing until now as I do not know the answer for certain and will not know until I build one of these polarity switchers. I suspect the deposits enter the solution as uncharged silver particles, and do not necessarily fall out as the polarity is generally switched before the build up on the cathode is noticable to the naked eye. I put a plastic lid on the jar and left the contents sit without the electrodes in it till the next day. The color turned a rich gold by then. I have no way to judge the PPM of this solution. But what I would like to know is, with the greater surface area of these bars and the distance between them being different with different set ups, can one just use the current strength as a judgment as to the silver being put into solution over a certain time period? Yes but only referenced to a particular set up including water. And by keeping this at a lower rate, control the silver micron size by lowering the blast off rate? I have seen where some have inserted a resistor to limit voltage/amperage in these setups. Does this not slow down the early formation of the solution when the resistance of the same is high? Not really, the initial resistance of distilled water is so high that the addition of 10K ohms or so as a current limiter makes little difference. Would not the control of the current be better as some have suggested along with polarity switching? It would seem to me that this would give better control under the chances of other variables like electrode size, distance apart, solution concentration, etc. Am I correct in this reasoning? In doing this, it would seem that changes in electrode size and other factors could be discounted more. Why... the only difference is in the work done per unit time. As the delivery of current is staggered in these systems, the work takes longer to do (and some may be undone at each polarity reversal). But all other factors remain the same as far as I can see. Thanks for any comments that those of you with more experience can give me. Pleasure. I have been buying my colloidal silver for some time and I use it to control infections as I have a chronic lung disease. I have found that when I get an infection that starts to limit my breathing, by putting colloidal silver in a nebulizer setup, I can help keep these infections down and get relief quickly. Much more quickly than with antibiotics. It has been a very positive help for me. Gene Downey Regards - Ivan. -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver. I have seen a number of responses on this list as to current limiting, polarity switching, etc. But I have enough electrical/electronic experience to know that there is many variables with this that needs covered. Let me relay my limited experience with this. I was hunting a source of silver and decided that the easiest one to obtain for me was bullion bars in the one troy ounce size. I found these easily at a coin dealer. I cleaned them and then using alligator clamps above the water line, put them into some distilled water with the clamps above the surface of the water. I used a wide mouthed pint Mason jar with the bars opposite each other against the sides. I have a DC bench power supply that I connected to this and set it at 27 volts. I turned the power supply on and let this set up run for a few hours. At the end of this time, the solution was fairly clear and one of the bars had a fair build up of a dark flaky surface I took to be silver. I have taken this to mean that some silver was deposited on this electrode. From my reading on this list, I have come to the conclusion that it came from a high current flow during the process. I reversed the polarity on the next run and the deposits came loose and dropped into the bottom of the jar or floated to the top as thin flakes. One question I have is if the polarity is switched every minute, what happens to these deposits? Are they kept in solution as colloidal silver or are they just dropped to the bottom anyway but with little build up on the electrodes? I put a plastic lid on the jar and left the contents sit without the electrodes in it till the next day. The color turned a rich gold by then. I have no way to judge the PPM of this solution. But what I would like to know is, with the greater surface area of these bars and the distance between them being different with different set ups, can one just use the current strength as a judgment as to the silver being put into solution over a certain time period? And by keeping this at a lower rate, control the silver micron size by lowering the blast off rate? I have seen where some have inserted a resistor to limit voltage/amperage in these setups. Does this not slow down the early formation of the solution when the resistance of the same is high? Would not the control of the current be better as some have suggested along with polarity switching? It would seem to me that this would give better control under the chances of other variables like electrode size, distance apart, solution concentration, etc. Am I correct in this reasoning? In doing this, it would seem that changes in electrode size and other factors could be discounted more. Thanks for any comments that those of you with more experience can give me.
