have tried it both manually and via the netconf gui. The system DOES
detect my NIC which is a 3com etherIII 3c509...I chose to use DHCP, and
dhcpd is run, i see the link light light up on my switch as it polls my

Go to the Linux-Mandrake site. Look for the link to HardDrake (LHS under
the curly-haired penguin). Download the 3 detect-xxx files and
HardDrake. You will also need to go to the LM RPM's and get the alsa

are saying...try downloading "isapnptools" from
http://www.roestock.demon.co.uk/isapnptools/index.html and install it on
your system and try running sndconfig again..

I believe the reason you modem isn't working is that it is a winmodem.
During the past couple of years modem manufacturers began producing modems
that lacked dedicated processors and instead relied on the computers cpu to

I am having problem installing Mandrake 7.1 from my hard disk..i
downloaded the /Mandrake and /images trees. i used LeechFTP(M$ windoze)
to download them. the whole download is like 1G.
after i reboot the computer in to mandrake setup and located the
mandrake directory. it said "loading ramdis
Right after it finishes formatting the new partitions, it throws an error
saying "no hdlists found", and installation stops right there. Has anyone
seen this? Is there a workaround?

I noticed a large number of messages about all the problems people were having
with Mandrake 7.1 hanging at the IDE detection phase of installation but I do
not remember seeing any work arounds or resolutions for this issue come along.
