Wow!! At sea level, speed of sound is 660 knots, so 600 KIAS [knots
indicated air speed] is mighty close to mach 1! That's gotta feel
_really_ fast that close to the ground.

I have nothing so exciting to tell. But a couple A-10s flew over
last week...

The BCI chart I have indicates the H8 is the DIN equivalent of an
BCI group 49 - so they are _supposed_ to be the same. Thus either
one should "fit like it was made for it". Make me wonder about
the AutoZone battery.

Here is a chart I built showing the DIN and EN numbers as well as
the BCI. I have failed to figure out why there are two DIN
numbers...

NOTE 1: all of these batteries are 175 mm wide, so I did not
list that dimension.

NOTE 2: The batteries with a "b4" holddown may be a problem
for 123 cars. I don't know the clamping range of the
factory clips.

NOTE 3: This chart is in the same order as the last listing -
descending volume as calculated from the maximum
exterior dimensions. With all else equal, greater
volume should equal greater capacity - unless the
calculated volume does not compare to the internal
volume.

| BCI |DIN| EN | length | height | Holddown |

I'll say it again. Keep the starch (carbs) and oils/fats 4 hours
apart and the quantity doesn't matter.

Again, a prerequisite is to eliminate processed sugars. And as
much as possible, eat the whole "fruit" as unprocessed as possible
- like ground grain without the germ removed and not bleached (NOT
white), or roast beef, not bologna, the whole apple not apple
juice, etc. It will take some time, but the weight will come
off. And you will be a lot healthier too, so other issues may
clear up - like heart burn, sleep troubles, hypoglycemia,
headaches, etc.

Oh, and portion size won't matter either, if you listen to your
appetite.

Re: [MBZ] OT sign of the times - be careful out there!

2017-10-19 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
Tower fly-by is a basic flight test technique to calibrate a new pitot-static
system. The test aircraft flies down a painted centerline in a stable trim
condition (at various speeds) while the true AGL is read visually from the
fly-by tower and the altimeter is read in the aircraft. The rule is to stay at
least one half wingspan above the ground to avoid data corruption from ground
effect.

My most memorable flyby was a 600 KIAS pass to a closed pattern. The turn to
downwind was wide, even at 7g, and we had to extend the downwind leg (a lot) to
get slow enough to lower the gear. The maintenance guys on the ramp thought it
was very cool. That memory is vivid, even after 40 years.

Yes, 123 wagon... Rear most window, Right side. Neighbor's yard man's lawn
mower threw a rock into it and it's shattered the only thing keeping it
in is the window tint film on the inside that keeps all the pebble sized
pieces held together... and a layer of clear strapping tape over the
outside...

Local Knackers here have NO wagons... Glass with the rubber would be
wonderful.. just the glass would be Just Fine... Packing and shipping
challenges could be met somehow...

One afternoon when I was stationed at Peterson Field (now AFB) east of
Colorado Springs (1972), an F-4 pilot flew by the tower to have a visual
check on his landing gear. Those of us in the buildings adjacent to the
flight line, who had not been informed of this activity, were rather
surprised by the roar of a jet so close. We ran out of the hanger to see
what was going on just as made a second pass, very close to right over
where we were. He was about 150' off the deck and his cockpit was about
200' away from me -- I could see him very clearly -- and it was LOUD!

Apparently things were OK because he circled around and landed without
incident.

Since Peterson is a shared field with Colorado Springs Municipal, I'm
sure commercial traffic was suspended while the landing gear check was
going on!

It looked like it was a fly by of the tower, and not the full length
of the
runway, hence the turn near the terminal. Can't see whether it was
directly

over the terminal or not. It was not what those not on the radio expected,
therefore it was scary.

H Maybe the Michelin frogs discontinued the practice and made
everyone sell real michelins. Last I knew wally and dead sam other
brands only had warranty at their stores.

Dan Penoff via Mercedes

Just checked with Costco.

Bzzzt!! Wrong! Unless you buy a branded tire (Kirkland?) made
specifically for the warehouse, the brand name tires are identical to
the same name tire sold elsewhere. Also, the warranty booklet says you
can have the tire repaired or replaced by any Michelin approved tire
shop. No exclusivity to Costco.

Just to be sure I got the SKU for my tire and was able to find the
exact same tire using the SKU on Tire Rack and elsewhere.

Nearly every online reference I saw to the subject was at least five
years old. Even Consumer Reports dismissed it.

It's good to know that an H8 isn't exactly a 49. I knew a 93 was slightly
different, but don't remember why. IIRC all the 116,123,126 etc came with 49s
in them.

I filed two complaints with the commissioner. The most recent had transcripts
of our email conversations. That was about two weeks ago. I have had no
contact with the original adjuster since. The most recent clown at Amica
called me Tuesday before lunch to “discuss” the commissioner’s complaint. I
derailed him by asking if he intended to settle as his superior had arranged
with SWMBA a week ago. He laid out the plans as he understood, then wanted me
to respond right then. I asked him if the incso had actually paid the body
shop’s initial bill.He lied, and said they had. I called the shop and they
said not.

I may find out how the commissioner’s complaint had any impact, once the boys
at Amica have the full payments on the desk, my title clean, and stop
prevaricating.

Either - we do both. The sourdought starter is from the yeast occurring in
the iar in our house - who knows what it is?
My wifw is now on her second 50 lb. bag of yeast in the last 25 years or so
- we keep it in the freezer, pull out a pound or so when needed. It's MUCH
less expensive this way.

Oil is high calories - which are what really count, not carbs.

Okay - this is OkieBenz. Apply your "systems" approach to all matters
OkieBenz? For flat tire, use duct tape. For oil, use french-fry oil.
For clean car, let the rain do it. Or... address the problem, not the
symptom. Pharma only makes sense for lazy americans not OkieBenz
where we assess problems for cause instead of merely managing
symptoms. Assess the cause instead of addressing merely symptoms.
i.e. less habanero jam, eat less at dinner, eat yogurt at dinner, add
more acid (add Braggs) to your eating because it may be that your diet
is suffering too little acid rather too much acid wherein digestion
symptom appears like acid. Find the problem, not merely stare at the
symptom.

Well, I am sort of back in the saddle.

I picked up Allen this morning. The shop finished it last night. She drives
as well as I remember.

NOW, to get the SOB insurance people to do their job.

I paid to ransom my car before the adjuster could get his tow truck over and
steal the car from the shop to send to the CoParts yard. Insco was supposed to
pay the storage fees, but never did. When asked this week, they claimed they
had, twice. When I asked the body shop last week and this, as well as when I
paid to pick up the car, turns out it never had been paid.

I was supposed to sign a settlement at lunch, but there were just too many
balls dropped. I am holding out for them to get the proper payments made, and
have proof that the title has been cleared, that it never shows as salvage.
When the stars align, then I can sign.

Behr is the gold standard. Never heard of the other off brand. They last
decades so the cost differential is inconsequential.

We have that in some of our local stores, its in the frozen foods aisle.
Doesn't taste like much, but it is "bread'...

Personally, that's too radical a change for our household, we'd never stick
with that, so I find something with no HFCS and does have multi-grains and
no sugar added, and then just limit the intake.

If I were going to make a sandwich to take to work every day, I'd get a
bread machine to control the ingredients and make sure it tastes like
something I'll eat for the rest of my life.

Question: If I eat 3 hrs. before bedtime, then wake up 3-4 hours later with

a. As directed - before eating
b. At bedtime
c. At 4 AM when the GERD attacks.

My doc suggested at bedtime as I mentioned before. It’s not going to hurt any
way you do it so try that and see if it works. If not try the others, see what
works for you.

The med basically inhibits acid production so whenever it is an issue would be
what to get out ahead of.

I am assuming that if I am shooting for a certain carb number to stay under,
even if I eat a sandwich with white bread as long as it comes in under that
target I should be fine. So if a piece of bread is day 13 net carbs and I eat a
sandwich, depending on what else is on the sandwich we are talking maybe 30 or
so carbs for that sandwich. If my target is less than 103 per day, then I
should still have plenty of room in the carb budget left, correct. I think the
problem would be if you are a ton of bread. Or at least more than a couple of
slices a day.

2017-10-19 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Kaleb,

Find a multi-grain that doesn't have any high-fructose corn syrup (1st
filter) and then the lowest added sugar / sugar carbs that you can find.
Nature Made is a brand around here that is OK and still very inexpensive.
Rye breads can also be OK.

Get a bread maker, make bread in big batches, slice and freeze. Very little
actual labor involved and you get better bread for small money.

Probably most any whole grain/multi-grain.  THe more grains the better.
There's this 21 grain thing I get at Costco, I see it now (for more) at

really good, esp toasted.

You might look at a bread machine, it takes about 10min to dump stuff in
and turn it on, a coupla hours later you have awesome fresh bread.
They're cheap too.  You can premix all your dry ingredients to save more
time, then just measure out and add your wet ingredients, then let it do

whipped butter. Lock me away from it.

Forget about commercial packaged breads although German Rudischlager black

tasty. Just aggressively wholesome.

Locally made French baguettes can be outstanding, depending on who's doing
the baking. Whole Foods, e.g.

I love sandwiches. Hence too much bread intake. When I lay off the bread
(behavior modification), I can loose 5 lbs in a 3-4 days. I think it also helps
to add more water and less soda or fruit juice. To me, it's all about cutting

These are somewhat rare machines in the United States, as they were in
competition at the time with the launch of the minivan and,
unfortunately, lost that battle. Mercedes decided to remove them from
the U.S. market due to slow sales, but continued to build and ship them
throughout the rest of the world. Now, in retrospect, we realize the
loss of picking the minivan over this.

HF Tools are weird. I bought one of their $15 4 1/2" angle grinders last week
to have at camp. Its first job was to sharpen the blades on the bush hog. Its
nearly as good as my Makita, other than the switch is cheezy its a very good
grinder.HF sells really good grinding/cutting wheels too, surprisingly good
considering its HF...

Wow. The fellow thinks he knows S123 cars - but he doesn't.

"...they were in competition at the time with the launch of the

The first minivan was introduced by Chrysler in 1984, and the S123
production ceased in 1985. Not exactly "competition"

"The self leveling suspension system has been removed ... so this
one will no longer be plagued with the leaking system issue.
Often owners would come out to find their car sitting on the

*sigh* The SLS is a _good_ system. Even with a total hydraulic
failure, the car does not "sit on the rear bumper". What he is
trying to promote as a major feature I consider to be a huge
detriment.

"... I had to have this car shipped to Oklahoma from Seattle, WA

Oops. If he thinks this car is in good condition...

And the price - that is a BAT crazy price! The air conditioner
