Sorry Kevin. If I were homeless and hungry, stopped in to your mission, I wouldn't want to have to pray with you, when my beliefs are different and not protestant, as you appear to be. [AsburyPark] Re: Ocean Township considering suing Weldon for accepting bribes
Officials are generally elected by the people. In the case of Asbury Park, the City Manager is a hire, to conduct the business of the Council, advise the council and make administrative decisions, for the City, favorable to the residents, or so I thought. Is everyone on the same page with that? What bothers me, is the decision by the Council, in place at the time Weldon was indicted, that CHOSE to award this man, over $67,000, a little above what he took in bribes, that he was caught taking and slapped the citizens of AP, in the face, when they did it. For this action alone, the Council should have been impeached, recalled, or driven out of office, for aiding and abetting a known criminal! Just my honest assessment and tell me if any of these decisions are illegal and if not, why not? If it's legal, there's no oversight, for one and for two, they don't care what we think! Maybe the FBI should investigate that action alone and why rewarding a thief, for being a thief, is okay. Only in Asbury Park, where corruption, is the norm, or so it seems. It's no wonder, working the system to suit you is okay, but when it's another group, they should burn in hell! There I go thinking, again! The same was true, for Asbury United. They won in 1996 and I thought the corruption aspect was over! I was wrong, as usual and wondered if being corrupt was the norm here. So now, what is the agenda? Who gets favored and who gets knocked over? Guess what? It's US, as usual. I'd like to see Asbury succeed and if we're lucky it will, but when the powers that be, close down establishments that are winners, like the Wonder Bar, close down Rita's store, that was successful, the 2 movie houses that are left, with one's survival, in jeopardy, one bike shop owner is shut down, for one whose in their favor gets opened, puzzles me. Did I miss something? A home owner gets locked up and his ownership is jeopardized, while earnest citizens are willing to help him, is really puzzling and I wonder what kind of country am I living in, because this one is a nightmare! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, Hinge [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 09/6/07 BY ERIK LARSEN COASTAL MONMOUTH BUREAU OCEAN TOWNSHIP The township is weighing the option of suing former Mayor Terrance D. Larkin said at a Township Council meeting Wednesday night. There is actually a firm that wants to represent us without cost.'' The law firm Franzblau Dratch of Livingston has successfully represented Essex County in a case that went to the state Supreme Court to affirm the right of government entities in seeking legal damages from corrupt officials. In that specific litigation, Essex County sued First Fidelity Bank because one of its corporate officers had bribed former county treasurer Joseph P. Galluzzi in steering municipal bond contracts to the bank. Larkin made the revelation in responding to public criticism from Larry S. Loigman, an outspoken township resident and lawyer. He wanted to know why township officials have not expressed outrage at a federal judge's decision to sentence the former mayor to 58 months in prison, which Loigman considers too lenient. I was wondering who it was on behalf of the township that sent any sort of request to the judge for a more severe sentence?'' Loigman asked. Did anyone? ... Make any appearance before the judge and advise the judge of the harm that that despicable thief did to the township, to the interests of the township, to the residents of the township, to the government of the township, to the employees of the township? Did anyone make that representation to (the) judge?'' Loigman said the township ought to pursue Weldon in civil court for defrauding the people of Ocean Township in order to recoup financial damages, a case Loigman himself had pursued on his own in 2006 without success. Lawyer Stephen N. Dratch said his firm still wants to help Ocean Township and pointed to the Essex County case, which set legal precedent in New Jersey. We sued First Fidelity Bank on the grounds they should disgorge the money regarding the deals, it was ill-gotten gains,'' Dratch said. Dratch said his firm first offered to represent Ocean Township against Weldon in order to recover the $64,000 he received in bribes a few years ago. The firm offered to take the case on a contingency basis for one third of whatever judgment was awarded should the township prevail. However, after some preliminary meetings with former Township Manager David R. Kochel, Dratch said the firm never heard from municipal officials again. The offer still stands, he said. What I hear is prejudice hiding behind bureacracy. Here's what kills me; The Came Meeting Association will allow any straight couple to be married there. So, if you are straight, and lets say you've done things like rape, murder, molest children, be dishonest...any of the things that we all find reprehensible, and you find Jesus, and apologize...because you are straight, you are fine. Now, I'm not saying that the straight community is filled with horrible people. It isn't. But. If you are gay, and you love the same God as the straight people, and found the same Jesus, no matter how else you've lived your life...you can't get married there. Because you are gay. That's prejudice. So, the most horrible staight person could get married there, but a person who's only crime in the eyes of the church is being gay will be rejected. Prejudice, plain and simple. Not only that, but if you reduce this to the basic argument that one kind of sex is fine, but the other is a sin...then that is ridiculous. There is plenty of crazy sex going on in the straight world. But no, that's ok. I won't even go into the details of this thought. Use you imagination. [AsburyPark] Re: Prayer and Sacrifice
Mario, There are groups: Blue Star Mothers of America, a support group, that councils spouses of their needs, financially and morally, The USO, The American Legion Auxiliary, VFW and their Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, Navy League and America Supports You, which is run by the DoD. We are constantly gathering supplies, such as lotions, soaps, baby wipes, razors and feminine hygiene products and snacks, as Exchanges in Iraq and Afghanistan, are in constant need, for lack of these items being readily available. Not a victory garden, or bond purchases, as we had during WWII and Viet Nam, but many people I know, still buy bonds through payroll deductions. You are correct, that the families and the soldiers are the ones suffering and being sacrificed, while those who have already served, do help by sending care packages over every month, bearing the costs, through donations. I purchased a case of hotel shampoos for $10.00, from a thrift store. It was worth $40.00 and had over 200, 1-ounce bottles. That along with money donated to purchase all of the other items, add up and are largely donated by retired workers, like me. We then have sorting parties, to pack the items. Over 50 cases a month are sent overseas, marked Any Soldier or Female Soldier, when feminine hygiene products are sent. It may not seem like much, but the letters and photos we receive, are worth it. This group did a lot of good, when AP had its' Katrina Drive right after the storm. I met many of the incredible people in this group and those who know me, know that I'm eternally grateful! Working from his Iraq base in 2002, he killed Lawrence Foley, American diplomat to Jordan. He planned a NATO attack from Iraq. It was he who beheaded American Nick Berg on video. He fought against US soldiers in Afghanistan BEFORE we invaded Iraq. In Iraq he killed thousands through bombing campaigns, including US soliders. When he was injured he treated at Saddam's state run hospital. We eventually killed him in IRAQ, where Saddam allowed the AL-QEADA leader to operate. - Saddam Hussien paid the families of suicide bombers $25,000.00 each. A: No. Q: Why not? A: Because if we'd gone to Baghdad we would have been all alone. There wouldn't have been anybody else with us. There would have been a U.S. occupation of Iraq. None of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq. Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it -- eastern Iraq -- the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey. It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq. The other thing was casualties. Everyone was impressed with the fact we were able to do our job with as few casualties as we had. But for the 146 Americans killed in action, and for their families, it wasn't a cheap war. And the question for the president, in terms of whether or not we went on to Baghdad, took additional casualties in an effort to get Saddam Hussein, was how many additional dead Americans is Saddam worth? Our judgment was, not very many, and I think we got it right. The so-called liberal media never reported those Cheney words. [AsburyPark] Re: Werner Jailed by AP Judge
Thanks Frank! I found this report chilling! Does this incident sound similar to someone else leaning on Freedom of Speech? Very oppressive and MEAN-spirited, to throw him in jail, for what? Can someone tell me? Terry Weldon, won't spend this much time, for all of the bribes he's taken! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, asburycheech [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: This is just another sad indication that the good ole boys running this town will do anything (and I mean anything) to stop people from expressing their opinions if they conflict with the conventional wisdom. What's wrong with this picture: Terry Weldon pleads guilty to bribe-taking five years ago, gets the council to buy into the Fishman plan, resigns as city manager minutes later, finally gets sentenced to 58 months, but the sentence is stayed until at least next January. He has not spent one second in jail. He was forced by our city council to accept a huge severance package, and continues to suffer the receipt of a huge annual pension. On the other hand, Werner goes to municipal court on Friday of Labor Day weekend, gets sentenced to 45 days in county jail beginning immediately, cell phone confiscated so that he is held virtually incommunicado until Saturday morning, and can only make collect calls. If you think his real offense was not fixing up his home to the satisfaction of the eyesore police, you probably need a new prescription for those myopic rose-colored glasses. This is justice, Asbury Park style, and the good old boys and their flunkies on the council (and maybe even a couple on the school board) are probably celebrating today. Werner may be a thorn in their side or a pain in their ass, but this would be happening to no one else. It is persecution, plain and simple. 30 years ago there was a mass exodus of folks marching out of Asbury Park and to neighboring towns, especially Ocean Township, whose former Mayor until recently was, ironically, the aforementioned Weldon. There are signs that another shift across the bridge to Wanamassa is beginning. The good ole boys will probably say good riddance, because they have known only power politics, cronyism, nepotism, and corruption for generations. Many of their predecessors escaped the pokey by succumbing to the conqueror worm. Unfortunately, the longterm residents, especially the poor, have tolerated it; and a few in that community have even participated in, and profited by it. Considering the folks who are persecuting Werner, he should wear this episode as a Thoreau-like badge of honor. That is small comfort, however. Werner already has the distinction of having been fired by Weldon as one of that felon's final acts of infamy. I sincerely hope that the treatment meted out to Werner does not have a chilling effect on those who are trying their best to make a difference. Accused by His own, due to ignorance, that He, in fact, was the Messiah, but to fulfill the phrophacies, went to His death, to save ALL of us. Called The Greatest Story Ever Told, by those of us who believe in Jesus's teaching, we often lose sight of the fact that no matter, which form of Christianity, we aspire to, be it Roman Catholicism, to Southern Baptist, we often forget we are Christians, or followers of Christ. Jesus said, Love thy enemies! Every morning, without fail, I light a candle, to curse the darkness and do a series of prayers in Thanksgiving, for having awaken, once more. I say all that, to say this: It seems that Rev. Kev and those who beat the drums of war, if you're so intent on supporting war, sign up and justify your support! You don't have to display a flag in your window, with a Gold Star, in the center! You don't have to anguish over your lost loved ones or tend to a Veteran, with lost limbs and those suffering mental problems, called PTSD's. All of that My country right or wrong, is why so many countries HATE us! If there were no Al-Quaida, we'd invent one! As the crooks and liars, exit daily, from the Bush White House, amid scandal, ask yourself, why? The reasons are obvious. I saw the show and there was cake at the base. The animals were made of gum paste or fondant. Not knocking what you said. Just thought you should watch the show first! I was really impressed when I saw it. Reminded me of cakes I had made for my kids. At their first birthday, I had a similar cake made and the animals were plastic with straws used, with a paper canopy. Very similar and no where near the cost! When I moved to Jersey and had my last child, her cake came from Friedman's in Belmar. Same cake, in fact! Buttercreme frosting instead of fondant! I can't understand why this is re-running. This is an also-ran series, based on info, over 8 years old. What did City Manager, now deceased, Wilbert Russell, have to so with anything? Is an invisible hand moving the Press, to reprint this like it's new or something? The only person to have benefitted from this scandal, is T. The event kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the traditional celebrity match. The celebrity teams will be comprised of officials from Asbury Park, Belmar, Long Branch and Neptune City, among others. It is time to retire the horse's butt. After 30 years including almost a decade of rivalry between the governing bodies of Long Branch and West Long Branch the Anthony Putt-Putt Petillo National Bocce Tournament is fading into the sunset. The tournament, which began in 1977 in Asbury Park, is saying arrivederci, announced organizer Sal Caliendo of Neptune City, who added never say never about a reprieve in a written history of the Shore tradition. Caliendo still will organize mini tournaments during the year to benefit local charities. The signature event will conclude with matches among 52 teams Friday and Saturday at Memorial Park. The event kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the traditional celebrity match. The celebrity teams will be comprised of officials from Asbury Park, Belmar, Long Branch and Neptune City, among others. It has been two years since officials from Long Branch played officials from West Long Branch, eight years of matches made resonant because the then-mayor of West Long Branch, Paul Zambrano would challenge his brother, then-Long Branch City Councilman John Fazz Zambrano. The losers would carry home reproductions of a horse's butt. But both men have since resigned their respective positions after being caught in a corruption sting and await sentencing to prison terms. Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider said the city challenged West Long Branch last year but the borough could not field a team. Long Branch played Neptune City instead but the magic of the rivalry was gone, said Long Branch City Councilman Anthony Giordano. In office for more than 13 years, he said nothing resonated with residents more than the annual bocce matches. Even he is at a loss to explain why. Giordano said it was an event that brought people together rooting for the home team no matter where on the political spectrum viewers fell the rest of the year. I loved it, said Schneider. It was always a good time. People wrote nice things about us, and that doesn't happen very often. There was always more coverage about the tournament than anything else we did. Those were great times, agreed Giordano. Year-round, as I talked to people throughout Monmouth County, people used to get a kick out of them, Giordano said of the rivalry games. The years we lost, it was brutal around here for weeks. We used to joke that we got a harder time from constituents when we lost the bocce match than we did in a bad budget year. The tournament is named after Caliendo's cousin, a former Asbury Park police officer and special events director for the city who passed away on the eve of the event in 1987. Then-Gov. Thomas H. Kean declared it the official bocce tournament of New Jersey, and it attracted participants from as far away as Staten Island. This year, teams are coming from remote locations like Ridgefield Park in Bergen County and Northfield near Atlantic City. The current tournament is being played in memory of Caliendo's brother, Ricky, who died Feb. 11 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, also referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Ricky Caliendo, 52, a former Asbury Park city worker, was one of the original tournament officials in 1977. Sal Caliendo will bring out one of those original courts to serve as the championship court this year, he said, along with an original scoreboard and bocce ball set. Sal's wife, Liz, has been preparing hundreds of photographs to display at the tournament. Those photographs are available for the taking as the Caliendos, who have a collection of thousands, hope some of the attendees see themselves or a cherished relative in the displays. If you see a memory you like, take the picture, Caliendo said. Although bocce has become increasingly popular along the Shore in the

[AsburyPark] Re: Security Cameras: Pros Cons
As for me, I'm not adverse to cameras in common areas, e.g., Parks, parking lots, train station, bus stops, municipal, state, federal bldgs. and schools, where break-ins are common. Some years back, GreenGrove School was broken into and the thieves, who turned out to be local kids, from middle-classed homes, were caught, fined and turned over to their parents, since it was a first offense. Vandalism is also deterred, as it should have been in Library Park. It really takes the air out of one's sails, when destruction is done for spite and on purpose! It ruins the chance for ordinary people, to have a decent, quality of life. If cameras, were surveilled on heavily traveled streets, it would deter litter, if signs were placed, for ALL to see, that by depositing refuse in containers, placed around town, AP, would give the indication, that residents, take care to keep their streets safe and clean! Is it just me? Since Katrina, New Orleans has a no tolerance for litter, anywhere! It looks like Europe! Not a scrap of paper or garbage, anywhere! This is a very small place. My family ran the gamut of complexions, so fair, they were mistaken for white and so black, it was undeniable, who they were! I stupidly thought all Blacks, looked like that, before I had formal Black Studies, out of curiosity, more than to seek the truth! There are still People of Color, in my home-town, who don't consider themselves as Black people, clinging to and denying, their Black Heritage. I feel sorry for them, for their apparent, ignorance! This leads to gang creation, drug distribution, drug use, incarceration with long, draconian sentences, due to the Rockefeller Drug Laws, but it also creates employment, for the Justice Department. More jails to incarcerate, the overflow in the prisons and an almost planned genocide, of Blacks and Hispanics, (Puerto Ricans), because we are considered, expendable! Just my thoughts. Thanks again! Tommy, Great hearing from you! Hope all is well! Don't know if I can get kids, because our Juniors, do the same thing; throw candy! I saw your kids, last year! What a great day, for a parade! Sharon --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, justifiedright [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Dear Group, Each year since the 4th of July Parade started here in Asbury, I dress my kids up as clowns and they march the parade giving out toys/trinkets to the children lining the parade route. We have a truck that stores the toys, and they march behind grabbing the toys and running them to each side of the street. They love doing it. In the end its great fun. Great memory builder. However, I don't have enough kids each year. It is usually my 4 and about 2 others. You can't really appreciate how wide Main Street is until you see these kids running back and forth between the truck and both sides of the street, trying to keep up with the truck as it moves forward. Last year it was really hot. They worked like dogs. They were struggling to keep up because the crowds are bigger each year. I promised them that this year I would get more help. If any of you have or know of some kids that would like to come along, I'd love to have them. I prefer teenagers, but as young as 10 will do (younger than that they tend to quit and we end up cramming them in the truck with the toys for the rest of the parade). Id like to have maybe 15 kids. They don't have to actually dress as clowns. Some just do face paint (my wife does the painting before the parade). I'm willing to negotiate down to no costume at all if I can get the help. If you can help, please call my office at 732-869-1500 (I'm short a secretary right now so if I'm not there it may ring about 8 times before the answering machine picks up - leave a message and I'll call you back). Mr. Serpico, is a fine, reputable guy, as well as attorney! AP, gets its' money's worth, when they hired him! A decent, honorable son, of Asbury Park! Indeed, Mr. Serpico, taught me and gave good sound advice, on how to change, or grant beneficial use, in many requests, on the zoning board! I believe as he always did, (his homework), on this Ned, person. Too bad, he didn't heed him, when he repeatedly asked, whether there was any conflict. once said, that I couldn't vote on an issue, because of my faith, forgetting the board was predominantly Catholic and that religion, had no bearing on the ruling. Wasn't anything monumental, except a change in use, of a said property. When it comes to faith-based activities of any group, I would have voted yes, because religion, is the one thing that grounds, me. Not so for some or those who have no faith; it's just what it is! I've also learned that it's okay, to NOT have any faith, for whatever reason or, none! Our board meetings were only attended by those petitioning. There were no huge crowds and I almost thought, that it was a non-important, board! It is, since the redevelopment, finally took off! --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, radio881gal [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Eileen - I agree. I believe I asked him about the ethics report at that time, but I think Serpico said then that he hadn't seen Brown's report. That was probably because Brown hadn't filled it out yet. [AsburyPark] Re: Werner's Monorail
I actually rode in a monorail car at the 1984 World's Fair, New Orleans. We exited at the NASA exibit of the Columbia Space Shuttle and was awestruck at the complexity of the Space Vehicle. I have an admiration of all technology, having come out of RD. There's no harm in reflecting on the past, to see how far we've come. Change is good, except when that change, redefines or forgets, what makes an area, what it IS! I see no harm in having the old, next to the new, but as some have observed here, it shows pride, when you can preserve. rather than destroy, that, which makes an area, unique! After Katrina, did anyone read, that the French Quarter, would be destroyed and condos built? NO! They were too busy trying to dry the place out and as usual, the lower 9th ward, was and still is, being neglected! Any parallels to the destruction of the landmarks, that had made AP, the pearl of the Jersey Shore? You say jewel, I say pearl, because what was once pristine, has turned into a dump! A sorry commentary, on what made Asbury Park, unique and different from Seaside Hts., or Point Pleasant. This City had its' unique architecture and landmarks, of which you only have postcards, photographs and things that once, were. So get rid of the old, because the Partners, DON'T identify with it. All I can say, is, there's nothing Jewish here, so what do they care? I've been to countries, where 3 or 4 square blocks, are left of old Jewish neighborhoods, from WWII. I didn't hear the tour guide say, Oh, this will be torn down and made into condos! See what I mean? It's what ALL marketers, or Business Marketing Professionals, (emphasis on Professionals), do, BEFORE, presenting their product, service or area of expertise! How in the world, did they NOT plan for parking? I was over there at CH, for the Monmouth County Cotillion, an annual event, for African American High School Seniors, from the County area! Parking, was HORRENDOUS! I was let out at the curb, due to the fact, ALL of the handicapped spaces were GONE! Why do I have to park in hadicapped? Besides terminal brain damage, I have an inoperable disc problem, in my lower neck and back. Makes walking into and out of certain areas, almost impossible, especially, high curbs, uneven ground, etc., which puts CH, almost impossible to maneuver. When I was young, I didn't even think about it. Also, the steps of CH are verticle, high and thankfully, I'm NOT in a wheel-chair, YET! CH, is VERY handicapped, inaccessible! Why this jewel, has bee allowed to crumble, is beyond me! It is caught up in the 70's and 80's, as far as design and NO ramps, whatsoever! I say that, to say this, my legs were cramped and I left, at the intermission. Same for the 110th! I was babysitting a well known personality, which included the famous Mr. Noumair of Noumair's photography, who let me know where I can find the proofs, from my son's Confirmation, back in '74! I wasn't a VIP, said so and told my friend, that I was leaving, because I couldn't maneuver CH, too many steps! Our own Deputy Mayor, would have had, to have been carried into a seat, had he not been down in the semi-circle, reserved for them. Saying all that, no consideration for parking, accomodations, for the elderly, people like me, who have pre-exisiting situations, ( I look perfectly normal), until I try to navigate an area, I know, I can't! So, I guess I have to read about events, in the papers, or online, huh? So much for redevelopment! A comment on 2-way Ocean Ave. I kept looking for oncoming traffic and noticed cars that knew, turned off, into one of the avenues, which is what we did, ASAP! Lots of out of towners, DON'T know and I could envision head-ons! Red light GONE, from where the Wonder Bar is, on Kingsley! I asked, where's the light signal? My husband said, he didn't know! I can see accident, upon accident, come summer! People DON'T pay attention! They're too busy sight-seeing, looking for the NEW, what changed, etc.! ONE traffic change, is ONE, too many! Thanks for the link, but it utterly depressed me! I'm not a native, but I love this place, for all it was and what it could be! My kids, grew up here and wherever they live, realize that there's no place like AP, Neptune and Long Branch, for the rich experience of having been young and foolish, as the young are! I fell like singing, Thanks for the Memories, as Bob Hope, so fondly sang or My kind of Town, as Frank Sinatra, sang. Sad, huh? My attachment for what might have been and how bitterly cruel, it is, to live here and see the greed, played out, in such a cruel, in your face, way! Yesterday, I was in Home Goods, purchasing items, for a Patriotic Basket and found 2 items, just for me; Melville's Sea Coast Lollipops, perfect as a buy, for this area. For $6.99, the clear package has 6 glycerin pops, in the shapes of All things Asbury! Lollipops, in the shapes of a shark, seashell, lighthouse, sailboat, sea horse and a lobster! Overpriced, but so what! In New Orleans, there was a Greek Confectioner, who created these, 2 for a nickle! For the naught me, I purchased Shonfeld's, At the Party, frozen pops kit, for ADULTS! 4 plastic molds, with 2 tubes of punch mix, and instructions, where to pour the alcohol in the bottom, drink mix and water, at the top! Perfect thing, on a hot afternoon, AT HOME! For adults, only! Yeah, there's still a kid, inside, me! The point, is, how fast, technology, in this case, becomes, obsolete! When these innovations were produced, THEY, were the NEXT, Big Thing, as they are commonly called! I worked in the RD field, for over 20 years and surprised at how many here, are either engineers, marketers and end users, as they say, in the business! What, you have no memories? If anyone in this group, remembers Pong, you know what I'm talking about! Pong, was the very first electronic game, that was massed produced! Atari, IntelliVision and Super Mario Brothers, followed! An analogy of AP can parallel, what I've just said; AP - Old, established, religious camp settlement, pretty much, like Ocean Grove. A plact to take the air and worship! Segregated, bigoted, whatever you wish to call it, because people, of a darker hue, could only work there, not live there. A class and racial system, still practiced to this day, in theory, if not actual! A phenomenon or movement, dubbed, regentrification, occurs, when long neglected urban centers, done so, due to white flight, occured, in the 60's, taking the jobs, factories, etc., to the suburbs, rendering the school systems, integrated by the 1954, Brown vs. the Board decree, still leaving the schools, predominantly black/hispanic/poor, to furthur deteriorate, either from overfunding of suburban schools, resulting in your Abbott, districts of today, that no matter how much money, you throw at a problem, the problem, remains, unresolved! Due to inflation, city and suburban dwellers, have the means, to take old and deteriorated properties and refurbish them, commonly called, regentrification, which pushes the poor and underserved to be moved out, in favor of this new money! It's like an attempt in futility! Thanks, for including me, in this illustrious group of people! It's also people like you, who really make a difference and make me glad that I live here, trying to hang in there, etc. It's not easy, when you feel like you're just out there alone! No matter what happens, I still wish for a positive outcome in the City, that will benefit and enhance the quality of life, here. It's what we ALL, strive for! I'm always disheartened, by those that litter, then wonder why this place, can be a dump, in more ways than one! Going to put a pair of rubber gloves in my car and stop, when I see this filth! In Europe, you don't see one scrap of paper or waste, on the ground, or in the streets. There are certain areas, you don't see it here, either, like lower Sunset Ave., 8th Ave., 7th, some areas of Webb St., but then there are certain sections of streets, that make you feel as though, it's a garbage dump! My street is swept, every other day and there's alternate side of the street parking, on these days. The City does a great job, so my beef, is not with our workers, it's with people, who have no pride in themselves. We're doing some things right, like electing qualified individuals, to correct the mistakes, made by former boards, former administrators, etc. In that regard, I think the City will move forward. Weeding out corruption, should be paramount, in any town! When you read some of the saleries, earned by those caught, with their hands in the till, it has to be GREED! We lose, kids and seniors lose and it just gives us, another Black Eye! One day, we will all have to stand and give account, for not helping the poor, or feeding the hungry, because a few people with power and manipulation, of the press, always get their way, then cry foul, when they feel their civil rights, are being trampled on. Anyway, again thanks! If someone knows where I can get a replica, or reasonable facsimile, of the Carousel, displayed for the 110th, please send details. I want to use the carousel image, when I become State President, for my organization and order pins and give-aways, for my installation. Should I contact Jewell Marketing? 22 years ago, we didn't have the awareness, that we now have, thanks to Meaghan's law. We didn't have an internet, so sophisticated that this information, wasn't posted, because the internet was USENET! I DID work in R D! Been on the net, since '82, thank you! The Constitution, protects ALL citizens, from witch-hunts, like this! This is the US, not Salem, Mass.! And everyone has a right to defend their property and their rights, right? The POS was arrested a few years after I bought the house for apparently molesting his daughter. So a few years ago, the POS gets out of jail, moves next door to another neightbor who took him in. And, the way the law is, no one is notified by the probation department, prosecutor etc. Luckily, I saw the POS walking around and made sure we all knew. After calling the probation department etc - the POS has more rights to privacy then do the rights of the surrounding neighbors and KIDS. While his picture is on the 'net, you have to check for yourself. Lucky for us, we have someone from Dan's old neighborhood who made it a point to show the POS a couple of things. 1)The toy in his belt 2) The property lines. Then, when you go to either SELL your house or RENT it - the landlord is NOT allowed to disclose that you have a POS living next door (that is, you're not supposed to, by law), but you can advise them to check out the internet for possible sex-offenders. So you may lose a tenant or 5, get around $400/month less (everyone has a price), or your home may be worth LESS. Think back - that is what happened to AP. Now you have to have some controls over the building, number of people to serve etc etc. The state pays good rent for approved adult daycare centers. You'll see more and more facilities located in former warehouses. Actually, there aren't enough locations for the demand. Yahoo!
