Hi all,
I've used Mandrake on and off for a while, and I decided to use it
more. So I joined the Mandrake Club and downloaded 10.1 ISOs. I also
upgraded my PC hardware - new hard disk, new mobo/processor (Asus A7N8X
Athlon processor). It runs Windows XP very well.
When I came to re-install
and considered this card.
I know the Live! 5.1 card works with the emu10k chipset, but these don't
seem to be available any more.
Other recommendations and advice welcomed?

If not this will do the trick telnet 123.456.789.123 200 (The space and 200
tells telnet to use port 200.) Change the port as appropriate. I don;t think
that this your issue if telnet is not being seen as a valid command.

Have a look at vnc. It come with md8.1. It lets you take control of the desktop of
one from the other. Great tool. And it is free. You will have to download the

I have m8.1 and go to a console. startx works fine. But I can't get back
to a console screen (ctrl alt F1 or F2 etc) while kde is running. Even
loging out, the screen just hangs. Now, interesting enough is that shutdown
and reboot works just fine.

fine, simply by using the mkbootdisk command as follows:

I also had the problem with the boot disk made during the installation

Rant over... thanks for listening and be warned...
you would be better using win2000 for dual booting, as it really is a very
different beast compared to the 9x series, and as a result will give you
fewer headaches
