So, you can either risk injury for a quick but iffy fix, or go the safe
route for a good battery that takes some work. If you decide to do the car
battery or cap route and shoot your eye out, don't come crying to me ;)

that was doing the exact opposite it wouldn't stay asleep and zapping the

RoadTools $30 PodiumPad available at Apple retail stores, $20
actually not bad at
all. I did, however, add a Voodoo3 which helps a ton with graphics. You
obviously won't be able to do that with a Powerbook.
I'd bet your Powerbook if it's at least 100mhz could match the power of at
least a 486/66.

I believe these would be the European modems. Not sure of the details since
I'm in the USA, but I seem to recall some discussion on the Duo list about it.

Hi!
I recently obtained some PB Duos to give as gifts. They all have 16 Mbs

I'm forgetting the details and can't find the link, but I'm sure someone
has the page that describes the process...

it is to pull off the two round caps on the screen
hinge. Then, you can pull the top plastic up by the to little tab
thingies on the sides towards the back and pull forwards towards you.
Slides right off no problem :)

With a price limit like that, a new iBook would fit the bill. Or, if you
wanted to spend less, a used iBook or PB G3 would also do well.
