Hi guys,

a bit of spam on my behalf this time. We have released our new synthesizer,
Bass Line Pro as OsX AU and PC VST last night. It's basicly a semi modular
synthesizer with step sequencer, few are referring to it as 303 mod already
but it's definitely way more than that. I'd personally describe its
featureset as sort ofArp Ms-303, however it's not meant to emulate anything
.

I think Mr. Gianelli will dig this one :D (if you're into software
synthesis at all).

For further information and a demoversion check out www.audiorealism.se

i consider the world of commercial music and awards nights as one big giant

on the same wavelength as others on this list, underground resistance and
others interested in independent/underground dance music.

the time for techno to get the recognition and dues it deserves was 1989
and it did - millions around the world danced their asses off to detroit
music. thousands had their lives changed and started buying the records,
djing, making the stuff, starting internet boards, wearing UR t-shirts and
making pilgrimages to detroit and putting on underground parties. how namy
people turn up each year for the demf (or whatever it''s called)?

do you think techno or juan is getting their dues when a fake industry
award show mentions his name 20 years after the fact.
an industry that ignores you unless it wants to steal your songs (knights
of the jaguar) and we're still begging for their acceptance and
recognition.

not everything is under the control of the programmers, even at the
heart of their self-congratulatory, corrupt, musically reactionary
mess of an industry.

I'm actually thrilled by this. He has certainly had his ups and
downs, and sure Missy is pop, but the whole point is that this
happened because of techno, and it's about damn time Juan got
some serious cred.

Yeah, I always thought dance music was for dancing to! :)

A friend of mine who DJed a few times in the states but is based in the UK
told me how when he played a few places in the states nobody would dance.
They all liked the music, clapped at the end or whatever, but kept
perfectly
still despite the dance music he was playing.

With techno/electro/house I usually think it's the DJs job to get people to
dance.

I suppose if it's weird chin strokey musique concrete or whatever then it's
more acceptable to stand around and have a bit of a shoe gaze (I always try
to have a dance anyway, if I like what's being played).

Must be a states thing, check out Cylob's rave photo page, he also talks
about how nobody in the US dances at gig:

I was doing a mix this weekend (not recorded) that was leaning toward the
slower end of the bpm spectrum
I didn't clock the beats but I'm sure many were around 100 bpm or less (and
I was pitching stuff down around the -6/-8 mark)

it got me thinking about what techno and house tunes make it under this
mark without being ambient
it's that bpm range where you could either chill or dance

so what's out there? new or old (I'm sure most Theo Parrish, some
Moodymann, and all the beat down stuff will fit)

to give you an idea of what I was playing here are a few things (of what I
can recall):

Hubtone - Hot Muffin (4 Lux)
Nu Era - Capricorn Sun (from the Stars 10 on SSR)
Yotoko - Melrose (from the Bullet-Time EP on Emoticon)
Titonton Duvanté - Levels Of Scandal (starts out with an acid house track
backed by strings and then right at the end breaks down into a hip-hop
beat)
Frank De Jojo - Turn Off The Lights (Fluid Ounce)

Building on the funk filled, horn-laden dancefloor sound of his latest

Recloose has won fans world-over with work reminiscent of some of Detroit’s

Before ya'll start throwing names at me, let me first minimalize the
possible answers. I'm not really asking for those
strictly-techno-people-has-to-dance-to-this kinda live sets.

I'm actually thinking about Kirk Degiorgio for example. Does he do live
acts??? Or Carl Craig (besides Tres Demented), can you book him for a Carl
Craig or Innerzone Orchestra live???

With these names in mind, maybe you can help me out. You know... people

really for da clubs... more concert-like.

Don`t get me wrong, I enjoy en have enjoyed the music coming from Bone
trough the live attacks, but treatening to stop making and posting
mixes plus wanting to take that other site down shows that Bone does
not understand what he is doing by placing those mixes online.

If other people want to host those mixes then there is nothing he can
do about it! And if they really don`t want to make the direct link
public (because ot is costing them bandwidth...) then they simply
should not do that! It`s the nature of the internet. Just face it.

What I see is a whole lotta bark and not enough bite!

If Bone does not want his mixes to be spread, or links to be shared he
can better stop his project today than tomorrow. (Or build himself a
high-security website...)

last time I saw him Mike he smashed it too!!

I mean, I can only remember one track he played (BRING DOWN THE WALLS) but
I remember him being mindblowing, I was expecting the smooth house vibe and
he SMASHED it up big time playing classics, techno, proper house music,
disco etc.

he's hot.

grrr... 313 don't fail me this time!

So we had Dan Bell come play in Sydney on Saturday night. It was f**kin
awsome.

What was even more awesome was this though: the party had to close at 3:30,
just as Bell was kicking into top gear - I told the promoter about a
friend's birthday party that was still going on and would Dan (hereafter
referred to as God) like to come along and finish off his set there? Sure
enough, God hopped a cab across town and played for another two hours, for
free, for a birthday party (that was also boosted by about half the crowd
from his gig) as the sun rose. It was certainly one of the most memorable
nights of my clubbing career!

That's all I gotta say - I just had to share it with you guys.

i haven't read simon reynolds book yet but planning to when it's
available in australia later this month, but as far as proto detroit
techno goes, you can hear it in lots of places, apart from kraftwerk.
you can also hear it in 'technodelic' by ymo and even in 'sands of time'
by the sos band (some of this is so 'landcruising') and 'control' by
janet jackson, both produced by jam lewis. as we know, techno didn't
just appear fully formed out of nowhere.

Japan may get Interstellar Fugitives first because they were first
with the money. No one talks about it much but a lot of American
music gets released elsewhere (Europe, Japan) because the money made
from Overseas finances the US release. Don't know if this is the case
with this record.

Oh and in American English 'Jap' is a word for Japanese people with
ugly racist overtones. Since you're posting from Brazil, I don't think
you ment any harm, but maybe file that word along with other 'English

this is what i've picked up from years of watching british tv in a former
colony. so if i'm wrong blame coronation st, the two ronnies, benny hill,
porridge, all creatures great and small, east enders, mad dogs and
englishmen, shameless, one foot in the grave, love thy neighbour, when the

son, the singing detective, the avengers, the sweeney!!!, the
professionals!!! , birds of a feather, the good life, kenny everett, man
about the house, some mother's do have 'em, on the buses, only fools and
horses, ripping yarns, sykes, danger UXB, captain pugwash, upstaris
downstairs, till death do us part, softly softly and last biut not least,
the liver birds, catweazle...

the north was the hearland of the factories and mines that drove the
industrial revolution. working , living and weather conditions were hard.
the south of england was more the home of the sophisticated urbanities of
london and the landed gentry and the great univeristies. it was where the
profits of colonialism and the industrial revolution largely went. you
know, punting along the cam, reading some poetry with sebastian or monty,
and sip sip all day long like a dowager.

this divisions were further sharpened by the decline of the industrial
revolution and the closure of the mines post second world war. it reached
it's nadir during thatcher's years when the miner's union was defeated
after a long long strike and the mass closure of pits and mass
unemployment. the northern cities went into decline furthering the flight
of capital to the south.

Yeah, Canadian, very much flavour du jour at the moment. His music is
electro-inspired and quite sparse, his big 'hit' is Decompression on Minus.
I'm not really into much of his stuff; the only ones I really like are
Followed By Angels and Marionette, and an early release he had on Perlon
(Alpine Rocket). His sound is really clean, and his beats are seldom
straight 4/4 jobs.

He doesn't DJ as far as I know, it's all live from him. There's a really
recent liveset of his for download at
http://www.zeracon.net/snd/mcs/MovingCity05_Mathew_Jonson.mp3

In a previous life, he remixed Nelly Furtado (of I'm like a bird fame).

He also has a side project called Cobblestone Jazz, which seems to be where
his junglist penchant has taken him.

Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] 08/29/05 2:45 am
I'm curious to get some info on this dude, seeing he's been getting major
props for a while and his records are hot and he is rated by Richie Hawtin.
I think everyone misspells his name, too. I was also under the impression
that he had a UK connection, but it seems with his label being called
Vancouver, he's Canadian... He's booked to play live in Oz, but does he DJ
much also and what is it like?

Remove the external mould then use dishwashing liquid soap to clean them

Here's a statement by the League of Human Rights.

For those in Australia, if you wish to protest to the czech governement the

League of Human Rights condemns illegal police intervention against
CzechTek

31.07.2005 | and calls for the immediate resignation of Interior Minister
Bublan

On the basis of information from news reports and participants in the event
at Mlýnec pod Přimdou in Western Bohemia, the League of Human Rights must
express its condemnation of the brutal police intervention there.

The police have encroached upon rights guaranteed to all by the Charter of
Fundamental Rights and Basic Freedoms (1) in a manner which is completely
unacceptable for a democratic state:

1. Without any legal justification, the police restricted the freedom of
movement of persons who were peacefully in transit on the public roads.

2. The police as an agent of public authority illegally and brutally
infringed upon the private contract between the lessor of the property and
the organizers of the dance party. By so doing, the police made it
impossible for the purpose of the lease to be achieved and thereby caused
damages to both contractual parties.

3. By erecting an illegal barrier to the lawfully leased property, the
police artificially escalated the situation. This resulted in conflict
which could otherwise have been avoided.

4. The police used completely inappropriate methods, given the situation,
and during the intervention injured several dozen people.

In contrast to the organizers of the event, who leased the property in good
faith as a result of last year’s problems, thereby demonstrating their
desire to meet the legal requirements, the police decided to place
themselves above the law for reasons which are neither understandable nor
acceptable. Under the rule of law the police may not presume that
participants of a private event are going to behave illegally.

The League of Human Rights calls upon Interior Minister František Bublan to
recognize his responsibility for the completely inappropriate and illegal
intervention committed by the police and to immediately resign.

The League further demands that all police officers responsible for this
illegal intervention be held accountable and their victims compensated. The
League recommends all victims of police brutality to contact other
witnesses as soon as possible, to have any injuries examined by a doctor
and a medical report issued. Victims of this illegal police intervention
who want to file criminal charges against the police may contact the League
lawyers on +420 608 719 535 or by e-mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Charter: Art. 2 (2) states that “State authority may be asserted only in
cases and within the bounds provided for by law and only in the manner
prescribed by law.“ Art. 2 (3) states that “Everyone may do that which is
not prohibited by law; and nobody may be compelled to do that which is not
imposed upon him by law.” According to Art. 3 (3), “Nobody may be caused

10 (2) states that, “Everyone has the right to be protected from any

before marshall came along and made move your body. his claims that using
piano chords was so out of context and came more from fats domino is a
little hard to take.

cheryl lynne ' you saved my day' - a disco piano stormer that was big on

discogs is down so i cant check, but didn't 'someday' come out before 'move

there are more examples, but the point is - don't beleive everything that a

you treat the music and the production as two distinct things. with house,
the studio is the instrument and the production is the music.

yep, i prefer bad production, wack levels, crappy sounds, dropouts and
surface noise. that's exactly what made my bug out in the 80s to early
house. just like the raw, amateur quality of punk attracted me in the late
70s, early 80s. i like raw minimal tracks. you don't need more than 4
tracks to make the best music in the world.

as i've said before damce music is like prog rock waiting for punk to come

Hmmm so you think that the production of a track is more important
then the actual music? Or do u prefer a bad production above a good
one? Both don't really make any sense to me, would you try and
explain this to us so more because when i make a good track i really

I was into disco in the 70s and when I first heard hiphop I didn't see
any commonality between it and disco.

I still don't see the connection between early hiphop and disco, unless
the comment making their own kind of disco is synonymous with making
their own kind of dance music in which case the only real commonality
is that they're both forms of dance music and has little to do with
disco per se.

I noticed that using voodoo science - *and only if you're using Safari*
- you can access the site despite it being to all intents and purposes
down. Try this: go to your bookmark or Google or whatever. When your
browser starts to hang, cancel the operation (click on the 'X' in the
menu bar) and it should load.

It worked for me at the weekend.

I'm not a protocol egg-head so I dunno the mechanics of how/why/ it
works but it did.

From a weblog belonging to a discogs.com subscriber, dated 2 July:

 Dear Discogs User,

As you will have noticed, Discogs has been offline now since yesterday.
We experienced a cascade of problems with the servers yesterday that
ended
with the whole site inaccessible to everyone including the system
admin's.
Since then, we have been working hard on a solution to getting us up and
running again. Thankfully, this server that hosts the help.discogs.com
site has been revived, and this may allow us to get the whole site
running
again. However, this is an extremely technical job, and may take some
time to complete.

As sod's law dictates, we have four brand new servers already ordered
and will be installing them by the middle of July. These should ensure
we don't experience an outage such as this again.

We apologize, and ask you all the be patent while we try and figure out
a solution. In the meantime, if you need to contact me or another
Discogs
user with an urgent matter, please use the form below, and I will try
and help.

Yours Sincerely
Nik | Discogs Community Manager

i've seen it mentioned somewhere that the main guy is on holiday and
the server's gone down. could be mis-information tho.

That would make sense to me. www.discogs.com is still responding to
pings, so the problem is most likely with the application or server
rather than anything more sinister. Truth be told, I hacked them because
they haven't taken me up on my discogs toolbar idea yet.

Hi list,

I am talkative today, so here we go again.

I like the 7 Day Weekend track from Open House on Lethal, so I am
wondering how different are the Motor City and New York versions of
it in the NuGroove 12. Waht about the other side? Worth the haunt?

Is there a decent vinyl pressing of the Save The World Remix found in
the 33rpm Records/Sinewave? Mine sounds pretty poor, and cracklin at
the half end...

Cheers,

G

Kompakt: I've bought many records, Speicher 10, speicher 28, both rex
the

many others.

New records: Nothing special, dj t's new 12 which was nice techhouse,
couple of mathew jonhson records waiting in the post office. Oh and that

new dj Gregory's Head talking is also waiting for me at the Oulu post
office. Realy looking forward to that.

Busy weekend coming up, gonna play one club gig, one reclaim-the-street

in
one weekend :D

How is the Reclaim-the-Street movement in other countries?

There seemed to be fewer goth/punk/industrial types out and about this
year (the Victorian couple were great, though) and I didn't see a
mini-stage for them near the water like I've seen in previous years.
What happened? I hope this doesn't become a trend at the festivals.
Last year, I remember seeing a pretty good synthpop band play in that
area. They were sort of like an industrial Classix Nouveau.

With all the acid house being played in the tent at the festival
this weekend by the various Euro DJs, I suddenly remembered
an old and familiar track that is stuck in a loop in my brain now
but I can't place the name. It's a sort of crossover acid/wild
pitch style track that could be DJ Pierre or DJ Duke or one
of their many imitators. It's at the beginning of this tape by
my friend Lee, one of the original sfravers who I've lost touch
with since the late 1990s . . . any pointers appreciated.

http://djsets.hyperreal.org/listen.cgi?listen_to=19930904!LEE.rm

-- fred

PS Speaking of old sfravers, if any of you UK cats know the
whereabouts of my pal DJ Moonpup hit me up privately . . .
The last I heard of him was the legendary Glastonbury 1997,
whereupon Mixmaster Morris observed --

Backstage, Mixmag tent had some of the best sounds of the
weekend, particularly that crazy Californian DJ Moonpup
who made a big impact . So much so that a rival posse poured
beer over the desk and closed the party. There's no excuse for

got pretty crowded as we got into nighttime. And y'know...I know I'm a
year older. I know I've put on some weight. I know I must be a bit grayer.
But my wife and I had 3 different sets of high school age kids come up
and ask us... are you enjoying yourselves?is your son spinning
here?...do you like techno? As my wife is a High School English
teacher and we occasionally run into kids she has taught/is teaching
(and it was pretty loud, so if they said something to her, I wouldn't
have caught it), I just thought she knew these kids. I then realized
that we were a curiosity for them - those old fogies at the techno
show. Of course, part of me wanted to give them a pop quiz on techno
history and ask who's your daddy, but they already thought I WAS their
daddy's (or grandfacther's) age. It was harmless - and even funny. My
wife isn't so pleased by it (and she's 10 years my junior). It's
interesting to see so many youger people just discover techno and think
it is their secret. Ah, youth. I'm sure I was probably more naive when I
was young. Maybe not. I have never appreciated stupidity in crowds, I
have to say. I almost took someone's glow sticks away, I must admit (she
had them on long ropes and was swinging them in a 15' swath in a tight
crowd - ...but that's why we came down here! re: why? to clip people
upside the head? If you came down here to swing those, go stand in the
middle of I-75 and do it there!). As Kent said, I'm turning into the
old man at the screen door yelling You kids get offa my lawn!!. :-)
It wasn't as bad as this sounds - really it wasn't. I didn't even make
her stand in the corner. I'm getting ready to head back down in a few
and I'm taking my paddle with me this time, so if you're a young
whippersnapper and you want to get sassy, you best get a head start. I'm
a lot faster than I look. ;-)

richie's publicity machine needs to calm down.

however, i'm excited about hearing a mix that uses 5.1 surround sound.
i think there are some really intersting possibilities for surround sound -
much too interesting to be wasted on movie soundtracks.

Second-generation Detroit-adjacent techno star
Richie Hawtin is wrapping up work on his next
mix-album, DE9: Transitions, which is due out in
September, according to his publicist.

The CD promises to push the concept of the
mix-CD, with his label claiming that it will be
the first fully encompassing
5.1-channel, surround-sound mix. It will also
come packaged with a music-and-video DVD version,
with visuals to go to the music. Hawtin has
apparently been exploring the latest software
technology from his new base in Berlin, and the
mixes will apparently come not on the
song-to-song level, but perhaps deeper, on a
track-by-track (as in studio tracks -- voice,
drum, synth, etc.) level, a la Sasha's work with
Ableton Live. (Hawtin has had a custom Allen
Heath Xone:92 mixer made to control Ableton
Live via MIDI).

The CD is the follow up to 2001's DE9: Closer to
the Edit, and 1999's Decks, EFX 909, a
well-received series that has pushed the
boundaries of the DJ mix by adding effects and
the Roland 909 drum machine to the equation.

The electronic music world is incredibly
difficult to stay ahead of. What is branded cool
one week, might be slated as dirty the next.
Endless techniques are used by artists and their
management to try to keep themselves beyond
mainstream musical comprehension, and therefore
slipping from the razor’s edge where
legends can be crafted.

Richie Hawtin is far beyond the forefront of
electronic music. His uncrackable image matches
his flawless sound and genre pioneering styles.
After 4 years, he is back with his latest
transformation, evolving alongside technology to
ensure he doesn't get lost in a world of dated
sounds, average compilations and half-assed
singles.

His studio in Berlin has been in full production
for the third release in the DE9 series.
Following on from Decks, EFX 909 in 1999
and then Closer to the Edit in 2001 DE9:
Transitions is the long awaited latest mix from
Hawtin. Utilising the latest recording
technologies and automation techniques, he is
said to explore not only the traditional musical
transition over time and amplitude (X and Y) but
the depth (Z) in terms of space and perception -
bringing you much closer to the edit so to speak.

Released in September of 2005 on CD DVD,
DE9: Transitions will be recorded within a fully
immersive 5.1 Surround Sound environment,
complete with high resolution audio versions and
accompanying visuals.

Richie Hawtin will preview DE9: Transitions in
5.1 surround sound for the first time at Sonar,
Barcelona (June 16 -18, 2005).

who go through old david alexrod records or whatever and find breaks/loops.
they then try to sell the beats or pitch themselves by showing their cd-r

hi list,

a friend of mine recently send a demo cd-r to a well-known, and dare i say,

respected label looking to hopefully work with them.
A few months later he listens to a new release by them and finds that the
main loop that one of the tracks is built around has been taken from his
cd-r.
i've heard it and it objectively is the case

my friend's only problem with all this is that they didnt wirte to him
telling him that they liked the track and wanted to use a sample of it.
it's
not a quesiton of being ripped-off but rather having some sort of
acknowledgement and appreciation being manifested.

i think this is an example fo what is or isnt to be considered plagiarism
in
electronic music. given that it is music made by using samples and also
previously recorded material, is there a line that is not meant or even a
sort of code of conduct to follow so that someone doesnt feel ripped-off?

cheers,

really in stock? How do they handle overseas shipping. That sort of
thing...

Hello Joost.

Piccadilly records is my friendly local record shop. I have been buying my
records from them for well, maybe 10 years now I'd say. (With a gap where I
lost the plot and I wasn't buying any records.)

They're a great shop, owned by great people who care for music, and care
for the service they provide. Theres no attitude, no hierarchy, just plain
old friendly service.

I can't recommend them highly enough really. They excel in all genre's of
music, from the latest obscure private press indie 7's, through imports
like mahogani and on to re-issues of interesting music etc. A real one stop
shop.

These days, i dont really ever shop anywhere else for my new bits, I
occasionally have to get the odd bit from elsewhere, but I'd say I was a
pretty loyal customer. In return, they're great to me, not only me, but all
the local people that visit the shop.

They also like to support people who's music they like, or feel should be
heard, and thats never a bad thing either.

I have never used the mailorder service, perhaps someone else can advise.

Thanks

Alex

p.s. yes, I am a brown noser. But, well, sometimes things like this just
need to be said. Christ I've come across enough ars**oles in record shops
to know. So, yeah, a real ass-kissing review, but I wouldnt say it if I
didnt mean it.

p.p.s. ask them if they have any warehouse finds.

Yeah, but 'tis merely the novelty of it all I imagine. Most big DJs who are
playing out on Final Scratch probably haven't really had the gear for long,
especially when you express the time they've had it as a percentage of
their total time on the 1s and 2s.

Or maybe they're checking their email/watching the latest episode of
Battlestar Galactica they got off bittorrent the day before.

It's the perennial challenge, IMO - how do you turn an electronic music
performance into a 'show'? And furthermore, ought you to?

Cyclone Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] 04/15/05 11:06 am

Every time I have seen a DJ with Final Scratch they look at the screen the
whole set and never the crowd, and then the crowd gathers around and if
they
can they look at it as well. It's created a barrier. The next challenge is
to find a way around that. It's very disengaged...

I'd like to *dance* at a club with sound that good, too!

Anyway, I still don't like the idea of computer files substituting
for vinyl. Just think, if DJs ripped their vinyl favs onto their
ipods (or laptop hard drives), where would taste-setting airline
baggage handlers get their bumpin' tunes?

I tell ya, the world will be a sadder and poorer place if those poor
baggage handlers have only old Neil Diamond and Burl Ives records to
listen to after work. It'll set civilization (or at least airline

There's another verve remixed comp out and while most of the remixers on

because Carl Craig's remix of Hugh Masekela's The Boy's Doin' It is
bloody amazing.

Sort of a cross between his Angola and Tides remixes + some trumpets,
cruising away at a lazy 104 bpm, he strips down the original, injects some
proper nice C2 goodness and you've got a deadly track that makes you wonder
why they ever bothered making music at any other tempo.

Fabulous stuff.

The actual tracklisting is the stuff of legend. A lot of the breaks have

It was also the inspiration for Q-Bert's Camel Bobsled Race (his beat

i too have many many records i have no idea who the artist is or the track
name. not that ehy aren't on the record, but it's not how i identify and
know them.

when pitch adjustable cd players first came out i bought one. but i found
that the thing i disliked the most about djing with cds was that it
involved a different mental process to find the next track i wanted to
play. with records i flick through my box and, if i'm on point, the next
record practically leaps out, no thinking about who the artist is, what the
track is called. no thought involved. but with cds i had to stop and think
- what tracks are on here. no cd ever leapt out. i found it really ruined
the exprerience of djing for me.

That's okay. At times my CD collection has been sorted chromatically

Its definitely welcome when a DJ does make my hair stand on end, or make
me feel a sense of awe at the kinds of things sound is capable of. I'm
not normally a speaker-whore, but there have been DJs who have led me to
all manner of strange and wonderful states while my face has been buried

It doesn't happen often, which is probably a good-ish thing since
otherwise it would be commonplace and would lose that element of wonder

I didn't like the vocal version. The original untold version was not bad.

I totally missed the track when it was huge. I actually heard the track
first time couple of months ago when OO was playing live in Helsinki.
I sort of like the vocal version, although some of the vocals just don't
sound right. Instrumental version might be quite nice; i really like the
string arrangements.. very emotional.

Downside with the whole track is tempo, i think it's somewhere way above
130.. i wish it was somewhere around 120-122 :)

one of the great revolutions that occurred with the rise of dj based dance
music was the removal of the performer/audience dichotomy. the dancers on
the dancefloor became the entertainment. the action was happening on the
dancefloor not on the stage. power to the people! no more standing around
all staring at a stage with some egotistical jerk masturbating his guitar.

'promised land' and 'sueno latino' sounded just as good and just the same
no matter who played them. you didn't have to be in chicago or have farley
jackmaster funk djing, to have a great night out dancing to house music.

but that didn't really last long - now everybody just faces the dj watching
them change records and won't go out unless it's a name dj. back to the
boring old days of rock n roll again.

We have gone soft, the audience are in control. They know all the

and are no longer impressed by the pony you show.

At least there is some controversy surrounding Carl.

Where are the risky artist? What I see is alot of very consumable
 photo
friendly dj's with great portfolios.

I'm not after a revolution, I just want some content. Some substance
 that
will evoke some response from my co modified life.

These kinds of arguments, always de-volove into standard practice

for assessing popular music.

Techno music in its origins was about futurism. Using new technology
 to
to express new ideas and explore new paradigms.

I don't wish to establish some sort of elitism. However I think there

 is
inherent value in asserting some form of conciousness with the music.

I can let my hair down every night of the week to any number of djs.
