On my server I mounted my iso image using a loopback device: mount -o loop
.iso /mnt/.
Then I exported the directory containing this mountpoint. On my
Workstation (for testing the mount point) I mounted via NFS the server
export directory. I can access other files in the mounted directory so I
being a newbie and all, I do not mind asking dumb questions so here
goes... what do you mean by loop mounted them on my server?
and would you not need an ISO9660 partion to mount and correctly read
an ISO image? and can you read an ISO9660 file system from an IDE drive?
what is the results if you
I downloaded the Iso images and loop mounted them on my server.
Then I added the share directory in my exports config.
When I mounted the directory on my workstation the directories where I mounted
the Iso's are empty. The other files in the share are available.
I'm planning to do my upgrade t
I still get the exact same error message: "mount: RPC: Program not
registered"
I'm very confused, everything seems pretty straight forward. I've tried
both directions now, I've edited my files by hand, and I've tried using
linuxconf. Can someone show me the one stupid little thing I'm

Hi folks. Here's the problem.
On machine A I mount the cdrom. (fstab set to auto as file system type)
On machine B I mount the shared cdrom (fstab set to nfs as file system
type)
I copy some files across the network from the shared cdrom on machine A
to machine B.
No problem.
I unmount the cdrom

Hi,
I'm having a problem with nfs. I have a network of three Mandrake 6.1
machines all running 2.2.13-7mdk. The machines are weaver, ripley, and
jonesy. Things were working fine before y2k. I shut the machines down
before midnight, and turned them on again this morning (1/1). weaver is

Hi,
I'm having great difficulties trying to get nfs working under Mandrake
6.1. I keep getting an nfssvc not implemented error. After some
searching, I found out that I need to apply an nfs patch or get a
knfsd-compatible kernel source. Does the appropriate kernel source come
with the Mandrake
Hi,
I just upgraded to Mandrake 6.1 from 5.3. Among the many problems I'm
having, one of the most serious is that NFS isn't working anymore. I
start NFS manually with the /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs script. Now when I try
to run the script, I get the error:

Anyone have some step by step instructions in how to setup NFS?
I have succesfully setup PLIP and I can even FTP via PLIP, however
whenever I try to setup an NFS mount, I get an error:
mount: RPC: program not registered.
Thanks,

I am trying to NFS mount my cd-rom drive to an HP-UX machine.
I have modified the /etc/exports file to include the machine name and local
mount point(/mnt/cdrom). But on the client machine after the mount command is
given( mount jperry.colstate.edu:/mnt/cdrom /oraweb), when i list out the

Hi, Axalon,
The problem's fixed. I went to check weaver's /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs like
you suggested, and I realized that this file was missing. I had been
starting the nfs services with '/usr/sbin/rpc.mountd' and
'/usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd'. So I copied the /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs from one of
the other ma
