Dear Secret Pal, Your parcel arrived at the end of last week but I was busy getting my son ready for his year-end dance recital and also running a garage sale. I didn't have a chance until today to really have good look at the goodies you sent. Thank you so much for everything. I think I may have to share the writing paper with my daughter - her face lit up when she saw it! The air freshener will be put in our commuter car (we have to drive my one son quite a distance for his dance classes as we live in a small town). The bobbin is lovely and I will be putting the beautiful butterfly bobbin on it. I haven't got many divider pins and I do need quite a few on one of the pieces I am working on. This one feels wonderful and I can hardly wait to start using it. Dear Secret Pal, I hope you had a wonderful Easter. Your package arrived just in time for Easter. The cute decorated egg joined the other ones on our Easter egg tree and the chick joined us for Easter dinner! I'm afraid my daughter likes the chick quite a bit and I think he/she will end up as a permanent fixture in my daughter's room (except at Easter). The bobbin is gorgeous! It has such a wonderful feel to it and is a great size for gimps. Is it rosewood? I'm just in the process of spangling some of my bobbins so the spangle arrived at a most opportune time. And of course thread is always appreciated. Received another wonderful parcel from Down Under yesteday. Loved the bobbins and thank you for telling me what kind of wood they are. The hand-dyed local threads are a wonderful shade. I'm going to save them for something special. One note pad will go right in my purse and the other will take its place when ready. And the sachet smells so good! I love your notes on the postcards -- they give me a flavor of the country. I have been constantly using the book mark from last time. It is so handy for my bedtime reading, so you know the last thing that I think about is Australia when I place the bookmark on the page -- thinking about saving my pennies for a trip to Australia sometime! Hi to my Secret Pal in NZ! I was so pleased to receive the goodies this morning after a not-too-good start to the day! The rose scented bath stuff, and the silver sugar star were looked at with envy by my 4 - year old grand-daughter - she is into pink and purple in a very big way and is training to be a Princess, so we both loved them! The nail decals were also well-received - I do love things like that, and will enjoy putting them on my nails. The magnetic pad and the gift-tags are so pretty - almost too good to use! - so I do thank you so much for them, and the beads - I love spangling, so will greatly enjoy either buying new bobbins to use them with (?) or changing the beads on bobbins I have - I'll leave you to ponder which option will appeal most! I don't have a lazy susan and have always wanted one so I was really happy to see the one you included. The light pull is great as it really fits in with our decor. We have a lot of unpainted wood moldings, etc in our house and the light in our bedroom does need a pull!! I have to confess I am not exactly sure what the other items are used for. I think the two smaller pieces of wood with the pins look like they could somehow hold bobbins in place on a pillow - I'm just not sure how. Please let me know if I am right. Hi Secret Pal, I knew something special was in the mail when DH made of point of asking if I had found the mail by my computer. It was your package! (He usually doesn't say anything about the mail.) My little cat does not like the lavender sachet, so I have no fear that he will steal it. Whatever I put it with will also be safe from him. G The sachet will remind me not only of summer, but of my English Secret Pal and my visit to England a few years ago. The castle pictures will do the same. I saw several castles on my tour that I would have loved to visit, but we only saw the outside. (sigh) The bookplates will be used for special lace books. The bobbin and cover cloth are most welcome, and will be put to work soon. The overlocked edging on the cover cloth is a fancy stitch I've not seen on anything around here. Very pretty. I'm looking forward to next month when I can put a name with the bobbin, and other things you've sent. The package looked like it had been opened, and the second sachet you mentioned was missing. Thanks for the thought, anyway. I'm in the middle of Christmas ornaments and tend to start more than one project at a time so have several pillows in use. I think I'm ahead of deadline for most of my Christmas lace commitments, so the lacemaking is going well. I do need to keep at it, though, as the holiday season is creeping up quite fast and I'd like a few extra ornaments or bookmarks on hand for those unexpected occasions when a little something gift is needed. Dear Secret Pal, All my apologies for not replying sooner but I was abroad for two weeks. I came back this week-end and found your parcel amongst the mail, like a nice welcome home present. Thank you so much once again for the lovely gifts. The pencil bag with the pencil comes just at the right time because my old one becomes a little worn and to small. The chocolate treats will be appreciated too. Halloween is quite new for us in Belgium. Three years ago, it was the first time children came to my door. When I was a child Halloween didn't exist here at all. I'll probably give the ladybug to my youngest girl, her nickname on internet is ladycox (cox from coccinelle = ladybug in French) because we have an old VW beetle (also named coccinelle in French) we just restored so she can drive it. I usually take down accumulated cards every month or so but I am leaving yours there as they are so beautiful. I love the piece of lace on this month's. Currently I have had little time for lacemaking with a busy job and very busy children. The pyrographed cat on the needle case is wonderful. We have three cats right now since we have decided to keep a kitten from one of the other cats' litters (she was a stray and has since been spayed). I would like to reduce it to two but it's a pretty hard decision to decide which one needs to go. The pin cushion is great and I am hoping I will be using it soon as I need to start Christmas decorations within a couple of weeks if they are to get finished in time for Christmas. Dear Secret Pal, Thank you for another wonderful package of goodies!! You must have many talents. This month's card is beautiful and so unique - at least I haven't seen one before. Did your husband help with the metal work on it? I adore the bobbins! The plum spangles are just great and I don't mind having heavy spangles - I've made quite a number of them myself in order to use special beads. My children and I make a number of Christmas ornaments that are tape laces with lots of sewings so the crochet hook will certainly come in handy. I assume the polished rock is a type of agate? Dear Secret Pal, I should have emailed a couple of days ago but our cat decided to have her kittens under the computer desk so we have tried to minimize the use of the computer. It has been quite exciting especially for the children. I don't know how many chances they will have to witness a live birth - I won't go into the details but suffice it to say this wasn't planned. Thank you so much for the great gifts this month! The bone bobbin pendant is beautiful and I will have to find some really special beads to spangle it with -as well as to spangle the other beautiful bobbin. I had read all the messages a while ago about the horseshoe so was really pleased to get one. I have a piece on the go now that will certainly benefit from it once I get to the halfway point as the threads will start to overlap the pins. And now that my knee has healed up enough I can soak in the bath with my fizzie ball. The cover cloth turned out to be a bag which is great because I don't have a nice bag to carry all my lacemaking odds and ends when I'm travelling. Dear Secret Pal, My package arrived at a most opportune time. I wasn't having a very good day Wednesday and the parcel really cheered me up. I really like the pillow tidy - I have pinned it on my current project to hold the thread and scissors. I am a third of the way around a Cluny mat designed by Odette Arpin. And the bobbins will come in handy for my next venture, a black silk Cluny edging. And the pin is wonderful!!! I love it. The tape measure is already in my sewing bag that I take with me 'on the road'. I'm currently working on ballet costumes for my son's ballet company and I have to take all my sewing materials to rehearsals as several of us spend that time working on the costumes. Hello Secret Pal, The package arrived the middle of last week and the timing couldn't have been better. It was a real treat in a very busy time. My son is involved in a ballet that is performing this week and on the weekend. I have been sewing costumes constantly and driving him the 1-1/2 hours back and forth to rehearsals for the last couple of weeks. I had planned to send a thank you this last weekend but I ended up hardly being at home. I loved the snips. We had them at the theatre that I used to work for and I've meant to purchase a pair since then but never got around to it. The little honiton snowman bobbin is really cute and the needle kit has come at a good time as a couple of my other ones are slowly disappearing through the ballet. I really must say i am so lucky to have a SP that seems so in tune with me. You have touched me with your thoughtfulness, letting me have a pair of bobbins that have sentimental value.i will treasure them always. ( they are so very beautiful !) I have just started my first small square mat in torchon, so the piece you have sent will be invaluable as i compare me work in progress with how a finished piece should look. (with luck and determination i hope mine shall turn out half as pretty) The tea smells delicious, blackcurrent is a favorite of mine, the pincushion will be most useful, and the bathbeads used in those moments of stress after a long day at work to soothe and redirect my thoughts from work to lacemaking and Brittain. I empathise with your 3 hour trip home due to inclimate weather. Seattle really doesn't get much snow it seems we get a couple days a year but it's typically a laughably small amount to freeze traffic the way it does. Just a few inches and there is panic(which i do feel also- the thought of being on the road with people who are not willing to drive slowly and cautiously Terrifies me. :-) They get much heavier snow up in the Mountains or Eastern Washington. After i find out who you are I'll send some pretty snow pictures your way! Well, i'll be quiet now, and go back to lurking for another month. Dear Secret Pal with the changing identity Thank you for another great package which arrived on Saturday, actually it's a package full of packages - must have taken you ages to wrap everything so beautifully. I have already put some of the beads onto bobbins; and I'm intrigued by the cards, especially the one with applied lace. At first I thought it was a piece of embroidered net and looked at at closely to see if it was hand or machine run and it's neither! Looks to be some sort of paint applied to the underneath of the net. I've not seen anything quite like it before. Did you make it or was it commercially produced? Either way it's going into my lace collection although I would like to know the name of the technique. Hi to my special secret pal from maybe Florida. I got your package and I love your lace. It is beautiful. I really loved the card and that is my first lacemaker postcard. Is is great. I do need to ask you to forgive me. I somehow got my Christmas message to you in a not sent folder and I just found it. I opened my packages on Christmas and I am wondering if you are not secretly my neighbor. I loved the bookmark and the bobbin was beautiful but the book, WOW. I am taking an email class on 1st Peter and that is what we are studying in my Sunday School class, verse by verse. I was wanting some of this series and 1st Peter was too cool. I got the most precious box from my Secret Pal in Australia. It had some liquor chocolates, sweet little pooh magnet, and a neat little double gold picture frame. I also got a sweet little tablet that my daughter cabbaged onto to take to National competition for Drama teams in Washington D. Dear Secret Pal: I got the package today and was very impressed at how early you were! I mean, it's only the 11th and here is August's package (ok, so now you have a clue about how totally confused I am). How did you know we would be on vacation the first week of August! I was so impressed with your ultra-organization. And, even though I thought it was for August, I ripped into it. Ate the candy immediately, will bathe with the aloe/cucumber soap (the whole package smelled of it, so lovely), will bathe Sunday in the green tea bath salt, will have to put my glasses on to put the tiny Mouse Trap game together (and not drink coffee for a day so I have steady hands), quickly put the lace roll away to use someday when I actually have enough lace to roll up, have found some GREAT instructions for preparing poppy plants by freezing the seeds and then starting them (which is good because my very kind and hardworking gardener keeps clearing away my poppy starts) and to top it all off, the goddess pendant was a bonus. If you can easily get another, that would be lovely because my son appropriated it. That is when I realized this package was a not-so tardy July package. Your special spot for tatting is beautiful and looks much cooler than we have been today. What a treat-- unanticipated presents. Poor memory and organiz- ation has its benefits. Dear secret pal somewhere in the Northwest; unless you are being very tricky in your clues, I have a quadrant of the US to place you. Your gifts are so Pacific Rim, you have to be on the West Coast. But on the other clues, I'm lost. Thanks for the package. It arrived in good time but I have been taking some work training which is knocking me out. Thanks for the travel bobbins. No, I don't have a travel pillow but these are just great for keeping the threads from tangling. The candle is fun. It made me hungry for watermelon! They are in season or it would have been torture. The Seattle skyline is striking. Reminds me that I once looked into moving there. Now that we are starting our summer, it sounds nice. All we get in SoCal in the summer is too much heat and too much smog. It may seem odd, but me 12 yo son confiscated the lavender soap. It's his favorite smell. I'm hoping that bathing with it will help him sleep at night. He will share the incense with me but I didn't even let him see the lace. It is mine-- thank you. And I will plant the flowers in the front. I just have to figure out how to keep the gardener from mowing them or stepping all over them. He really is a great gardener and a very nice man, but he has cleared out my poppy starts three times this year. Guess I need to learn Spanish. thanks for making this so much fun.
