A PIX -is- a router (firewall router.) Hence, ip route statements and the
ability to run RIP. It's a box with two (or more) interfaces that connects
networks. Granted, it's not a box you would use for 'normal' routing
functions but to say the PIX is not a router is just wrong.

I tend to think of bridges as doing software-based forwarding with few ports

is however that the client tried this and now the display is garbled. My

Most Cisco ethernet ports are half-duplex only, including 2500 series.
There are some ethernet ports that can do full-duplex, like a special port
for the 4000-series. Even the 261x series are half-duplex ethernet.

you lose anything it might have told you about problem ports, etc., unless

According to the Netcerts BCRAN book, snapshot routing works best with RIP,

The x21 serves our Internet connection whilst the Primary ISDN is for

Is this possible? if so do you use ISL or 802.10?

backup interface does not just refer to dialup. It is a common practice to
use this kind of dialup backup as it is cheaper.

HI all,
I have to routers connected on a token ring segment. Every 120seconds
exactly they lose the neighbourship. This is then established immediately
but keeps flapping. There have been no changes to the default EIGRP config
here in relation to timers.
Any idea's????

as far as I know, you need to have a chat script for each router. The modem
needs to be configured for the aux port- try "modem autodiscovery" A dialer
map statement is needed bound to the modem script for this to work.

Autonegotiation does cause problems sometime. Rather specify it manually. I
had a instance where an uplink autonegotiated to half duplex on one side an
full on the other- result was many collisions!!

are you using the ppp pap sent username command?? Otherwise it sounds as
though the usernames and passwords may be wrong.. What is the output of the
debug ppp auth??
