I am not sure how old your iMac is or whether or not this would be a factor,
but if I use cmd-r at restart and take the steps to reinstall, it is Yosemite
that is indeed shown as the install that will be done, not Mavericks. So I
don't think the problem is that Apple has failed to allow a Yosemi

Okay, there is just one review for this app in the app store (the one where
this is two words) though admittedly it is not for the current version. The
reviewer cites only being able to kill it with activity monitor and though he
found the icon in the menu bar he says it was "stuck"; said develo
annot beat the price.

another though not doing so could cause you some confusion. I know when I was

The last time I tried this, I discovered that some bluetooth keyboards
apparently are not compatible with file vault. You might wantt to try to
determine if you r keyboard works or have a usb one handy.

I do know that option and numbers in an edit field produce characters, some of
which are special characters. Whether this relates to your problem in mail I
don't know.

Hmmm, I know how to do this using terminal but not in finder. I would be
interested in knowing if there's a way to do this also.
In case you end up doing it in terminal:
Open terminal.
cd to the directory whose files you want to copy. Otherwise the whole path to
the files will be given instead
Oh, that's nice! I never knew how to do this without the actual files being
copied. Since I do text by default, I wouldn't even need to do that step.
