entertainment center, and the room correction definitely
lowered the level of the playback a lot with the filters generated from
those sweeps. That isn't the case now.
I think highdudgeon is probably right about the need to fix the room
first, judging from my limited experience.

A CD works just fine. So, you're right -- must be the DTS/Dolby stuff.

deficient on some way? They published the scope photos, so now those

0.5dB is a relatively minor tweak. A typical desk pot (not a channel
fader) will have to cover about 15db over half its travel...you can
imagine that there's not much fine resolution to be had...

One answer to your question is an external DAC. A buffering and
re-clocking DAC like the Lavry 10 should make all digital transports
indistinguishable, and presumably it sounds at least as good as your
Denon...

digital out?
